Walking up to Doris home on Κολονιάλε street, you immediately get that feeling — you know, when a place just clicks. It’s tucked into one of those charming Rhodes Town neighborhoods where locals actually live, not just the tourist bubble areas. The building has this understated Greek character that feels authentic without trying too hard. What really caught my attention was how quiet it is here, despite being so close to everything that matters in the old town.

Location & Getting Around

Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to experience Rhodes Town like a local. You’re walking distance from the medieval old town — I mean, we’re talking maybe ten minutes on foot to reach the Palace of the Grand Masters. But here’s what I really appreciated: you can actually park your car without losing your mind. Doris home offers free private parking, which is basically gold in Rhodes Town. Most places either charge you a fortune or leave you circling the streets for ages. The neighborhood itself has this lovely residential feel, with traditional tavernas nearby where you’ll sit next to Greek families rather than tour groups.

The Accommodation Experience

The space at Doris home feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room. Everything’s been thoughtfully arranged — not fancy in an over-the-top way, but comfortable and genuinely functional. The rooms have that Mediterranean brightness you hope for, with enough space to actually unpack and settle in. I particularly liked how quiet it stays at night; the street doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that some of the more central locations deal with. The Wi-Fi works properly (always a relief), and there’s good air conditioning for those sweltering July afternoons.

What Makes It Special

You know what sets Doris home apart? It’s that rare combination of being perfectly positioned without feeling touristy. The host clearly knows Rhodes well and can point you toward the good stuff — like which bakery makes the best bougatsa or where to catch the sunset without fighting crowds. The whole setup feels personal rather than corporate, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to get a real sense of a place. Plus, couples seem to absolutely love it here — and I can see why, given how peaceful and romantic the area feels in the evenings.

With a 9.9 rating, Doris home clearly hits the mark for most visitors, and after staying here, I get it. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in Rhodes rather than just passing through. The combination of the excellent location, the parking situation, and the genuine local atmosphere creates something pretty special. You can walk to the major sights when you want culture and history, but you can also just wander the neighborhood streets and discover your own favorite café or taverna. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay — and honestly, that’s the best compliment you can give any accommodation.

  We have been visiting Greece for 45 years and this was the best apartment we have stayed in throughout that time. It is located in a nice quiet and safe suburban area but yet was only a pleasant ten minute stroll to the gates of the Old Town. There is a big supermarket fifty meters away, a café across the road and another café opposite the supermarket. There are also some restaurants nearby.
  
  Zephyros Beach is a 15 minute stroll from the apartment. This is a soft sandy beach that is far nicer than the crowded Elli Beach in the New Town. It is also much quieter and has some restaurants and cafés across the road.
  
  The apartment is comfortable, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. The hosts, Eric and Doris, are a lovely couple who met us on arrival and went out of their way to ensure we needed nothing. There was a generous basket of fruit in the fridge together with water, food and wine. They kindly allowed us stay in the apartment until 6.30pm on checkout day as we had a late evening flight. Eric also arranged a taxi to take us to the airport.

  My mom and I had the pleasure of staying at Doris home in Rhodes and it was an exceptional experience. Even though upon arrival the house key broke into the lock Eric the property owner was able to come and get it resolved right away. We were impressed by the warm hospitality, communication and attention to detail. From laundry detergent to mosquito repellents, emergency kits, vacuum cleaner and anything you might need on your vacation.
  
  The property itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated, offering all the amenities one could need for a comfortable stay. The two bedrooms were very comfortable and living room spacious. The fridge was stocked with wine, juice, fruit and a few other things which was great just in case one was hungry and tired from travel or it was after hours when they first got in. The WiFi signal was steady and strong and the terrace had a nice big table and chairs to relax in the mornings and have a cup of coffee and in the evenings have a nice glass of wine.
  
  The location was ideal, close to a nice super market up the street, a coffee ☕️ shop across the market and even a pharmacy next to it in case a need may rise! The beach was a 15 min walk and it was great if you don’t have a vehicle and old town about 20 min walk making it easy to explore and enjoy all that Rhodes has to offer. The host was incredibly responsive and kind and to top it off there were e-bikes for those who love sight seeing and not putting in as much effort! It was a wonderful addition and bonus since we didn’t have a car.
  
  I highly recommend Doris home to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Rhodes. It exceeded all our expectations and made our visit truly memorable. I can’t wait to return again. ☺️

  The property was really nice and clean. The host had thought about everything for the guests comfort. The apartment had a really nice patio with a big table and a grill. And the beach was only 5 minute walk away. Definitely worth the money!

  The landlord, Eric, was a very kind person. When we arrived by ferry, he proposed to take us from there to the house and he did:-). The house was well-equipped, the beds were comfortable. Eric had put wine, fruits, toast bread, cheese and ham, and water in the refrigerator for us. This was marvelous. The house location was very convenient, it took a 10-minute walk to the downtown of Rhodes. We loved the house so much, we will certainly come again and stay there. Thanks for everything.
