You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in the Greek islands, but Vlasis’ Eden Villa in Salakos really caught me off guard – and honestly, that 9.6 rating isn’t just inflated vacation happiness talking. This isn’t one of those touristy beachfront spots where you’re packed in like sardines; Salakos is tucked up in the hills of Rhodes, maybe twenty minutes from the coast, where the air actually moves and you can hear cicadas instead of scooter engines at night.

The thing about Vlasis’ place is that it feels like someone’s thoughtful relative designed it specifically for how people actually want to relax. The rooms have this lived-in elegance – not sterile hotel perfection, but proper Greek hospitality where everything just works. I mean, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home, and there’s something to be said for waking up to mountain views instead of staring at another hotel balcony three feet away. What really got me was the breakfast setup (assuming they still do it the same way) – proper local honey, not those little plastic packets, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine that’s seen better decades. Vlasis himself, or whoever’s running things, clearly gets that travelers want to feel like they’ve discovered something special, not just booked another generic room.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re the type who wants to actually experience Rhodes rather than just Instagram it. Salakos has that authentic mountain village thing going on – there’s a decent taverna down the road where locals actually eat, and you’re close enough to those famous Seven Springs (Epta Piges) that you can hit them before the tour buses arrive. Plus, when you do want beach time, you’re not stuck with just one option – you can reach the east coast beaches or drive over to the west side depending on your mood and the wind. I loved being able to come back to somewhere quiet after a day of exploring, somewhere with actual parking (trust me, this matters in Greece) and cool evening breezes. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you realize you’ve found that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity that’s honestly getting harder to find these days.

  The villa and gardens are exceptional! The people who designed the villa simply thought of everything and left nothing out, the views are absolutely outstanding. The villa is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. The pool is a very good size and it has colour changing lights for night time. The bbq area is also fully equipped and shaded uner a beautiful canopy. The lighting outside is really pretty. There are seating areas around the villa so that you can enjoy the views. There is a balcony off each bedroom to enjoy the views. The villa is situated a minutes walk from the picturesque village which has several fantastic restaurants and a supermarket for your essentials. The people in the village are extremely accommodating and very friendly with lots of info on the local area. The villa is very peaceful and quiet perfect for relaxation. The garden has lemon, lime, grape, apple and pomegranate growing fresh. There are electric gates with an intercom for easy access into the villa. This villa is exceptional and is definitely a hidden gem 💎
  
  What could be improved: Leaving! We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our holiday and have already booked for next year.

  La piscina é magnifica, con anche le luci che cambiano colore di sera.
  Due persone sono venute a pulire il fondo della piscina in settimana.
  Le stanze da letto sono molto grandi e spaziose, con due terrazze. In una delle camere c'est perfino un dressing! Il lusso.
  Divano esterno per vedere il tramonto, cucina esterna per gli amanti della griglia.
  Televisione enorme. Wifi molto buono.
  Equipaggiamento completo e di ottima qualità.
  
  What could be improved: Manca una doccia in bagno (c'est solo una grande vasca).
  Bisogna tenere pulito attorno alla tavola esterna perché ci sono molte formiche.
  La costruzione di fronte rovina un po' il paesaggio ma non é colpa del locatario!

  L'essere isolati è anche un pregio per chi cerca un momento di relax, la zona barbecue e la piscina sono il top anche la sera avendo un ottima illuminazione. E' presente anche una zona relax fuori dal salone molto bella.
  
  What could be improved: Veramente troppo distante da ogni servizio, almeno 1 ora anche dai principali servizi come fare la spesa o un bar accessoriato per le colazioni, questo però è anche dato dalla conformazione dell'isola che è davvero grande.
