You know what struck me first about Villa Tsampikos? It’s tucked away on this winding road between Pilona and Katavias – honestly, I almost missed the turn because I was so caught up staring at the coastline. The thing is, most people rush straight to Lindos or stick to the northern beaches, but down here in Lachania, you’re getting the Rhodes that locals actually know. I mean, you’re maybe twenty minutes from Prasonisi (where the windsurfers go crazy), but far enough from the tourist buses that you can actually hear the cicadas at night.

The villa itself has this lived-in elegance that I wasn’t expecting from the photos. Sure, it’s got that crisp four-star polish, but there’s character here – like the way the morning light hits the stone walls, or how the owner (I think his name was Dimitris?) genuinely seemed to care that we found the best taverna in the village. Speaking of which, walk ten minutes down toward the old church and you’ll find this place that does the most incredible stuffed vine leaves – Villa Tsampikos is close enough that you can stumble back after a proper Greek dinner, but you’re not dealing with restaurant noise or crowds outside your window. The rooms are spacious in that way that makes you realize how cramped most hotel rooms actually are, and honestly, the beds are better than what I have at home. There’s this attention to detail that feels intentional but not fussy – good water pressure, blackout curtains that actually work, and they stock the mini-fridge with local products instead of overpriced international brands.

What really sold me on this place, though, was the mornings. You wake up and it’s quiet except for the occasional goat bell (yeah, there are still goats wandering around), and the terrace looks out over olive groves that probably haven’t changed much in decades. The staff brings coffee that’s strong enough to wake the dead, and you can sit there planning your day without feeling rushed. Whether you’re heading to the beach at Gennadi – which is gorgeous and never crowded – or exploring the medieval streets of Monolithos, you’re perfectly positioned. And here’s the thing about that 9-rating it’s got: it’s not because everything is Instagram-perfect, it’s because everything works the way it should. The Wi-Fi is solid, parking is easy (trust me, this matters more than you think in Greece), and when you need something, people actually help instead of just pointing you toward a brochure. I’ve stayed in fancier places that felt like beautiful inconveniences, but Villa Tsampikos gets that balance right – it’s polished enough to feel special, but relaxed enough that you’re not afraid to leave sandy flip-flops by the door.

  Sehr geräumig, gut klimatisiert, unglaubliche Aussicht auf das Meer, der Pool hat vor allem den Kindern sehr gut gefallen. Wir konnten uns sehr gut entspannen, ruhige Nachbarschaft. Wir haben auch den Grill ausprobiert!
  Täglich schaut der Hausmeister in den Garten, checkt den Pool und man kann ihn bestimmt ansprechen, wenn man fragen hat. Er ist sehr freundlich.
  Man braucht definitiv ein Auto.
  
  What could be improved: Ein gutes Fleischmesser und eine gute Grillzange haben uns gefehlt 🙂
  Ansonsten gibt es nichts zu bemängeln!
