I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Villa Seranti in Kanamat. You know how it is with these smaller Greek villages, sometimes the photos online are doing a lot of heavy lifting. But wow, this place actually delivers on its promises and then some. The moment you step through those traditional stone archways, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you. Maybe it’s the way the bougainvillea spills over the whitewashed walls, or how the staff greets you like you’re visiting distant relatives rather than checking into a hotel.

What really sets Villa Seranti apart is how it feels authentically Greek without being touristy about it. The owner, Maria, grew up in this village and she’s got this wonderful way of sharing local secrets – like where to find the best olive oil (hint: it’s not in any guidebook) or which taverna the locals actually eat at versus where the tour buses stop. The rooms themselves are beautifully done, with these gorgeous handwoven textiles and marble bathrooms that feel luxurious but not pretentious. I mean, the bed linens alone made me want to ask where they source them from. One thing I appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main coastal road that all you hear are cicadas and maybe the occasional goat bell in the distance.

Honestly, the 9.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be a flashy resort with a million amenities – instead, it’s mastering the art of Greek hospitality in this intimate setting. The breakfast spread features ingredients from their own garden and local producers, and there’s something magical about starting your day with fresh figs and honey while looking out over the Aegean. The pool area is small but perfectly positioned to catch both morning and evening light, and the stone terrace is ideal for that pre-dinner wine you know you’re going to have anyway. Just a heads up though – if you’re planning to visit during peak summer, book well ahead because word is definitely getting out about this gem. Also, having a rental car helps since the village is pretty tucked away, but that isolation is honestly part of what makes Villa Seranti so special.

  Beautiful villa and all facilities available.
  
  What could be improved: It’s so new, taxis couldn’t find it so it was difficult to get out without paying €36 to get to Mandraki harbour.

  Tout était parfait. La maison est très confortable et proche de Rhodes. Un accueil fort sympathique et aux petits soins de Cristina et de son équipe lors du Check out.

  La tranquillité du quartier est agréable, la maison entière est doté de climatiseurs. La maison est propre et les lits sont confortables.
  
  What could be improved: Nous n’avons pas trouvé de capsules pour la machine à café, et concernant le barbecue, il faudrait mettre une plancha car avec le vent les grillades sont impossibles.
