You know what struck me first about Villa Meitani? The quiet. I mean, Kattavia isn’t exactly bustling to begin with – it’s way down at the southern tip of Rhodes where most tourists never venture – but this place feels like you’ve found some kind of secret hideaway. The hotel sits in this sleepy village where the main excitement is watching the local fishermen head out in the early morning, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. The staff actually remembers your name after day one (not in that forced hotel way, but genuinely), and they’ll casually mention that the best bakery is just past the old church if you head left from the main square. Check-in was refreshingly simple – no crowds, no rushing, just real conversation about where to catch the best sunset.

What really sets Villa Meitani apart is how it manages to feel both polished and unpretentious at the same time. The rooms are thoughtfully designed without being showy – you’ll find those little touches that matter, like blackout curtains that actually work and a shower with proper water pressure. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you experience the place; it’s not trying to be flashy, it’s just consistently good at the things that matter. The pool area becomes this perfect little social hub in the late afternoon where you might end up chatting with a German couple about hiking trails or comparing notes with some Brits about the best tavernas in nearby villages. And speaking of food – the breakfast spread is generous without being overwhelming, with local honey that’s probably from somewhere within a few kilometers and coffee strong enough to fuel your exploration of the Prasonisi beaches just down the coast.

Here’s the thing about staying in Kattavia though – you need to embrace the slower pace. This isn’t party central Rhodes Town with its medieval walls and cruise ship crowds (that’s about an hour’s drive north). This is where you come when you want to feel like you’ve discovered something authentic. The village has maybe three tavernas, a small market, and streets so quiet you can hear the wind through the olive trees. Villa Meitani works perfectly as a base for exploring the wild southern beaches or just for doing absolutely nothing productive for a few days. The Wi-Fi is solid if you need to work, parking is never an issue, and you’re close enough to venture out but far enough away that you’ll sleep better than you have in months. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.

  The comfortable villa is located 300m from main crossroad of the village. Close to restaurants with amazing greek food. Good startpoint to everyday trip to Prasonisi Beach. The staff was very nice and helpful.
