Villa MATA – 600m² with Private Pool and Jacuzzi

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Rhodes over the years, but Villa MATA actually made me rethink what a perfect vacation rental looks like. The moment you pull up to this place in Kalithies – and yes, parking is easy right on the property, thank god – you realize someone really thought this through. We’re talking 600 square meters of space that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard, if you know what I mean.

The thing about Kalithies is that it’s got this sweet spot location that most tourists completely miss. You’re maybe ten minutes from Rhodes town when traffic’s decent, but honestly? You won’t want to leave. The private pool area is where I spent most of my mornings with coffee – it’s properly sized, not one of those tiny plunge pools that barely fit two people. And that jacuzzi… well, let’s just say the Greek sunset hits differently when you’re soaking in warm water with a glass of local wine. The whole outdoor space has this natural windbreak from the neighboring olive groves, so even when that afternoon breeze kicks up from the coast, you’re not getting sandblasted while you’re trying to relax.

What really got me though was the attention to actual living details. The kitchen isn’t just for show – I mean, there’s proper counter space and decent knives, which anyone who’s tried to cook in a rental knows is rare. The bedrooms stay surprisingly cool even in July heat, and I never figured out if it was the stone construction or just clever positioning, but I wasn’t running the AC constantly like usual. The whole place has this lived-in quality without being worn down, you know? Like someone’s grandmother’s house if she happened to have impeccable taste and unlimited renovation budget. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward key-hunting or confusing door codes situation. Just real people who actually care that you’re comfortable and know their way around the area. Honestly, with that 9.9 rating, I thought we might be walking into one of those too-perfect places that feel more like a museum than somewhere you’d want to spend a week, but it strikes this perfect balance between impressive and actually livable.

  Villa was beautiful and clean very well presented . The pool was immaculate. The garden had endless supply of fruits.
  The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of towels / toilet rolls tea towels and crockery .
  The host Chris and his mum were wonderful. They were available if we needed them . Even surprised us with cakes and traditional stuffed peppers and tomatoes delicious.
  I would not hesitate to recommend this property and will be booking again .

  The location is very good.The pool and jacuzzi are great.The owners of the house are very nice people. When we arrived at the house, we’ve been welcome by a nice host and he showed us everything. The house was equipped with everything we needed, starting with laundry detergent and ending with fridge including water, juice, fruits, sweets, beers, and jam. Very nice from owners.Plus there was one dinner prepared for us by the hosts for the period of our stay.

  The Villa was perfect in every way. The host was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome the moment we landed. 20 mins drive from airport and within 2 miles of Faliraki town. Though close to many wonderful beaches, the private pool and jacuzzi is ideal for spending the day and evening relaxing. Couldn’t have wished for a better stay. Thank you Christos 🤗

  The villa is excellent for two people, spotlessly clean and comfortable with lovely garden and pool. Christos gave us a great welcome. The villa is perfectly situated to get to Rhodes town, Lindos and the airport.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing at all about the villa, although if a bar or taverna were within walking distance that would really top things off nicely.

  The host is just so friendly and helpful!
  The house is just gorgeous, super clean and you have everything there that you need! The pool area is super good mantained. Location was great you have everything near by restaurants, supermarkt, beaches etc. It's the perfect place to relax in Rhodos. We stayed as a couple but it's great if you come as family and we saw that you can bring as well pets.

  Villa Mata was a great place to stay and enjoy our two week holiday in Rhodes. The Villa was equipped with everything we needed, including salt, soap, even washing powder for the washing machine, and so on, things you often have to buy arriving in an holiday home and which are often left overs at the end of the stay. So we did not have to worry about that. The villa is spacious and there are lots of cupboards to store your things.
  The pool is great, the kids enjoyed the mornings and very hot middays in the pool, to be ready to explore the island in the afternoon and evening. There were even some inflateable toys (ring, mattrass…) there to use. The combination of pool and jacuzzi was used in quite enjoyable ways by the kids. It was great to have an own pool which we could use all day and night (of course beeing respectful to the neighbors in the late ours). The pool was very clean when we arrived and was cleaned once again in the middle of our stay. The two big umbrellas were efficient and could be moved around the terrace, which was good.
  The house is close to Faliraki, which is very lifely and provides you with everything you need. Big supermarkets are a 15-20min drive away and Christos, the host, provided us with adresses. He also gave us good advise on other things we asked him for, like view spots etc. Faliraki is a tourist town and you should not expect more of it! But the villa is located very good to see many things you should see in Rhodes! We did not go to the very south of the island. Everything else was not further than a 45min drive away. We recommend all the beautiful bays along the westcoast, which were too many to see them all. But they all are unique and in a reaching distance to the villa – especially Anthony Quinn Bay which is 5min away from the villa!
  The location of the villa is a bit remote on a small road, so a car is required.
  Christos was a great host, very friendly and helpful whenever we needed his advice. Check in and out was easy.
  
  What could be improved: The mattress in the main bedroom was a bit too soft and the air conditioner a bit to loud. And if you are sensible to noise, please note that the cicades (Zikaden) make a lot of noise throughout the whole island, there is no one to blame for that. So earplugs helped us sleep tight.
  Sleeping arrangements for the kids in the main room were ok. The sleeping couch was ok but a bit hard. The second bed was comfortable but squeaked a bit when turning around in it.
  But these were little things compared to all the other great!

  The garden was very nice and tidy. The olive tree was beautiful !
  A couple of drinks, some bread and fruit were waiting for us when we arrived.
  Everything was clean and well maintained.
  The host tried to be helpful.
  We had a lot of privacy (we appreciated the house in front keeping their blinds down).
  There were mosquito nets on each windows (although they did not work great because we got bitten everywhere and had to buy repellent)
  
  What could be improved: The bed was really too soft. It was like we were sinking in the mattress. It was very unpleasant and we slept poorly each night which very negatively impacted our holiday.
  The dogs were barking for hours at night and we could hear the car on the street very clearly.
  There were bright lights everywhere around the house which made the garden unpleasant at night (there is always a spotlight somewhere to shine in your face)
  Have to take the car to move anywhere – cycling or walking is not an option.
  The swimming pool was not heated and, therefore, very cold at this time of the year. It was pleasant during the warmest hour of the day but, otherwise, we could not go in it.
  The swimming pool area was cleaned when we were not around and some water was sprayed on our things including books.
  We were charged a large extra for a guest that came a couple of days for a service that was exactly the same.
