Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Rhodes coastline, but Villa Maria Beachfront Residence in Kiotari really caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first pull up (parking’s actually pretty decent, by the way), it doesn’t scream “luxury resort” like some of those massive complexes further north. Instead, it’s got this understated elegance that honestly feels more… real? The kind of place where you can hear the waves from your room without having to crane your neck over three rows of umbrellas to actually see the water. Kiotari itself is still relatively quiet compared to the circus that Faliraki becomes in peak season, which means you get that proper Greek island vibe without fighting crowds for a decent taverna table.

What really sells this place, though, is how they’ve nailed the details that actually matter when you’re trying to relax. The rooms – well, they’re spacious enough that you’re not bumping elbows every time someone opens a suitcase, and the balconies face the sea properly, not at some weird angle where you’re staring at the neighboring hotel’s air conditioning units. I spent way too many mornings just sitting out there with coffee, watching the fishing boats head out around sunrise. The staff genuinely knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. When I asked about hiking spots beyond the obvious tourist trails, they pointed me toward some paths along the coast that I never would’ve found otherwise. The beach access is direct – you literally walk from the property onto the sand, no shuttle buses or ten-minute treks required. And honestly, Kiotari Beach itself is underrated. The water’s that brilliant blue you see in photos but assume is oversaturated, except it actually looks like that in person. Swimming conditions are pretty ideal most of the year since it’s on the more sheltered southeastern side of the island.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a party destination, and they’re not pretending to be. If you’re looking for nightclub beats pumping until 3 AM, you’ll want to stay closer to Rhodes Town. But if you want to fall asleep to actual ocean sounds instead of bass lines, Villa Maria hits that sweet spot perfectly. The restaurant on-site is solid without being fancy – they do this grilled octopus that’s probably the best I had on the entire island, and their local wine selection is way better than it needs to be. Check-in was smooth, no drama with room assignments or hidden fees, which after some experiences I’ve had in Greece, felt refreshingly straightforward. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you stay here – it’s not perfect, but the things they do well, they do really well. You know what I mean? Sometimes that matters more than having every possible amenity if half of them don’t work properly.

  Very nice and calm place, real photos. Clear beach and crystal water with direct exit to the privare beach. Clean rooms, all facilities, big fridgers, air conditioning, nice barbecue zone, inside and outdoor dinning places with sea view. Good supermarket and shops near. It's good idea to visit Prasionisi, Lindos, olive oil factories, fish bazar, shops, beaches, tavernas etc., it's better to rent a car for convenience.
