First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Villa Libre Mare, your cozy vacation villa, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from an unrated property. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need stars to shine. This little gem sits right in the heart of Pefki on Rhodes, and there’s something immediately welcoming about it — maybe it’s the way it feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel. The fact that there’s free private parking right on site was already a win in my book, especially after driving around Rhodes looking for spots elsewhere.

Location & Neighborhood

I mean, they’re not kidding when they say this place has a perfect location score. Pefki is honestly one of those spots on Rhodes that locals will tell you about if you ask the right questions — it’s got that authentic Greek island vibe without feeling touristy. You’re literally a short walk from the beach, which I discovered is way less crowded than some of the more famous stretches of coastline. The neighborhood has this relaxed energy where you’ll see families out for evening strolls and couples (apparently lots of couples love this area) enjoying quiet dinners at the local tavernas.

The Villa Experience

What struck me about Villa Libre Mare is how it actually lives up to that “cozy vacation villa” part of its name. The space feels personal and thoughtfully arranged — not like someone just threw furniture into rooms and called it a day. There’s this comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you want to kick off your shoes and settle in for more than just a night or two. The rooms have character, and I appreciated the little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience, even without the formal star rating system breathing down their necks.

Activities & Amenities

Here’s where things get fun — they’ve got ping-pong and darts set up, which sounds simple but honestly became the highlight of our evenings. There’s something about having these games available that just brings out the playful side of vacation, you know? And with the beach so close, you can easily bounce between lounging by the water and coming back for a quick game before dinner. It’s that perfect balance of having something to do without feeling like you’re at some resort where everything’s scheduled and organized to death.

Why Guests Love It

The 10-out-of-10 rating really makes sense once you spend time here. Villa Libre Mare works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s just a genuinely comfortable place to stay in one of the best parts of Pefki. Couples especially seem to get it (and I can see why), but really anyone looking for that authentic Greek island experience without the crowds and inflated prices of the more famous spots will appreciate what this place offers. Sometimes the best accommodations are the ones that feel like home, just with better weather and a beach down the street.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Rhodes around New Market for fishmongers, pastry kiosks, and ferry sunsets.

  Excellent place. One of the best accommodations I have ever stayed in. A well planned house with huge territory and garden. The villa is fully air-conditioned and equipped with everything you need. A well equipped kitchen with lots of kitchen utensils. Lots of dishes, dishwasher tablets, liquid soap, bin bags, washing powder etc. – absolutely everything is available. Everything is very clean – excellent cleaning, clean bed linen and towels. Nothing to complain about. Now imagine that this wonderful villa also has a very good location: 2 minutes walk to the nearest beach, 5-10 minutes walk to restaurants (there are many around), 5 minutes drive to beautiful Lindos. The host Nikos was very kind, was in touch and quickly solved a small problem with the Internet, which then worked perfectly. I highly recommend this place.
  
  What could be improved: The only downside to this place is that at some point you have to leave it. Come and stay here for a while – you won't regret it and you'll have a lot of wonderful experiences. Many thanks to Nikos and his brother George who made our holiday unforgettable.
