Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Villa Lara AmberBlue? It’s actually tucked away in Pefkos in this perfect spot where you can hear the waves but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main strip. I mean, Pefkos is already the quieter cousin to Lindos anyway, but this place sits just right – close enough to walk down to Anthony Quinn Bay (honestly, one of the most gorgeous little coves on the island) but high enough up that you get these incredible views without the tourist crowds trampling past your balcony at 7 AM.

The property itself has that Mediterranean villa vibe down perfectly, and I’m usually pretty skeptical of places that try too hard with the Greek island aesthetic. But here’s the thing – it feels genuine, not like someone just slapped some blue and white paint around and called it authentic. The rooms are spacious, actually spacious, not that “cozy” marketing speak that usually means you’re bumping into furniture. Air conditioning works properly too, which… well, if you’ve been to Rhodes in July, you know that’s not always a given. The staff seem to actually live in the area – they’ll tell you about the little tavernas up the hillside that most tourists never find, or warn you that the road down to the beach gets pretty crowded around 11 AM when the tour buses arrive from Rhodes Town.

What really sells me on this place is the practical stuff that makes or breaks a stay. Parking is sorted (trust me, driving around Pefkos looking for a spot in summer is nobody’s idea of vacation), the WiFi actually works throughout the property, and the pool area has enough shade that you’re not playing musical chairs with the umbrellas. Plus, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to Pefkos Beach proper, but honestly? The smaller beaches nearby are way better once you know where to look. The concierge – or maybe it was the owner, hard to tell in these family-run places – pointed us toward this little path that leads down to a tiny pebble beach that locals use. No sunbeds, no overpriced cocktails, just crystal clear water and maybe three other people on a busy day.

I’ll be straight with you though – if you’re looking for non-stop nightlife, this isn’t your spot. Pefkos winds down pretty early compared to Faliraki or even Rhodes Old Town. But that 9.1 rating makes sense when you realize what you’re getting: a properly comfortable base to explore from, run by people who know the island, in a location that gives you the best of both worlds. You can hit the tourist spots when you want (Lindos is literally 10 minutes away), but you can also disappear into the real Rhodes when the crowds get old.

The property was exactly as beautiful as in the photos. Spotless and very comfortable. Close to shops and restaurants as well as the beach

What could be improved: Nothing at all but as others have said walking up the hill especially pushing a pram is no mean feat!

  • Nicky from United Kingdom – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

Lovely villa, very comfy beds and all furniture. Loads of space, nice having an en suite for each bedroom. Short walk to multiple restaurants or shops.

What could be improved: Only issue is the steep hill.. Not a problem for us but would be if you had mobility issues.

  • Ereana from United Kingdom – 20 October 2024 (8/10)

Very comfortable, secure, good facilities, good location.

  • Anton from France – 6 September 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful villa, well equipped, with a fantastic pool and terrace. Perfect!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Stephanie from United Kingdom – 27 August 2024 (9/10)

We had a very comfortable stay and the villa was perfect. We were visiting our son who was working at a nearby dive centre and it was great that he was so close he could come and enjoy meals with us in between work. Location was great for walking into town and far enough out to not be bothered by the music from nearby hotels/bars. The kitchen was really well equipped and the beds were super comfy. Showers were powerful and the added bonus of a washing machine meant I had no washing to do on my return.

What could be improved: The spa add on to the pool turned quite dirty after a few days of us being there and we couldn't use it but we think that may be due to the intense heat and it perhaps needing more chemicals. The pool was fine and kept clean so it wasn't an issue for us.

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 6 August 2024 (9/10)

Great location within walking distance of the beach and restaurants in the town. Property was clean and pool/hot tub were great.

What could be improved: Communication with local host was poor after first day and he did not respond to requests. Had to go via main office who were much better. Internal door handles kept falling off and not fixed despite request.

  • Corinne from United Kingdom – 25 July 2024 (9/10)

The property was finished to a good quality. The kitchen and BBQ area was all well equipped. There was plenty of space for two adults and two teenagers. The beds were comfortable and each bedroom had plenty of storage space. The outside and pool area was very spacious with a great view to the sea and excellent sunsets at night. We loved taking a very short walk to the sea for a refreshing dip! From the minute we walked in we felt comfortable and at home and everywhere was very clean. Charlie was very responsive – we asked for an umbrella and woke up the next morning to one placed by the pool – thank you.

What could be improved: Small niggle – because the property is west facing there is no shade at all outside from about 3/4pm till sunset. Possibly some sort of outdoor sun blinds attached to the gazebo would be worth considering, but I hasten to add we were there in July and the weather was abnormally hot.

  • Chris from United Kingdom – 31 May 2024 (10/10)

The property was excellent in every aspect. Clean, extremely well appointed, beautiful design and high quality finish throughout.

Everything you needed was available, new, clean and high quality, from the cooking equipment to the hair dryers and towels. We were able to BBQ and also cook some great meals indoors, sharp knives, good pans, nice glassware and a decent cooker all make a big difference. It was kitted out as well as our house at home.

Charlie was very responsive by phone when there were any questions about how things worked etc.

The pool and outdoor area is a beautiful place to relax, indoors you are able to cook a meal, watch tv, have friends over, anything you want.

The beds are comfortable and big, rooms spacious, water pressure is great and showers lovely.

We stayed with our kids and it was great how the property is fenced off, we didn’t need to be on top of them, and could let them wander a little. Security locks on a heavy front door, along with shutters and a locking outside gate, helped us feel secure when sleeping here with our family.

It is just a short walk into Pefkos and ideally located to explore the surrounding area, without the overwhelming noise of music from bars.

I cannot rate this Villa highly enough, style and substance.

What could be improved: It would have been good to have some plastic cups and plates for poolside. Also the pool guy would be better off coming in the early morning (which he did the first time), rather than the couple of times he came in the middle of the day when we were using it.

  • Andreas from Austria – 8 October 2023 (10/10)

The Villa was amazing with a beautifull pool, whirlpool and BBQ. We were a family with two kids and we enjoyed it very much. It's good to have a rental car to visit other beaches if you want to have it a bit more quiet.

  • Steve from United Kingdom – 21 September 2023 (9/10)

The villa was very well appointed and for 5 people, perfect.
    Excellent outside space.
Range of bars, tavernas and shops close by.
Couple of snags were quickly and efficiently sorted out.

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing!
