Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Villa George? It’s tucked away on this winding road between Apolakkiá and Profylia – honestly, if you blink while driving, you might miss the turn. But that’s actually part of its charm. I mean, you’re far enough from the tourist chaos of Lindos (about 20 minutes inland) but close enough to some of Rhodes’ best-kept secrets.

The property itself feels like someone’s sophisticated Greek uncle decided to open his home to travelers. It’s got that polished 4-star feel without being stuffy about it – clean lines, local stone details, and these gorgeous terraced gardens that cascade down the hillside. The staff genuinely seem to care, which you don’t always get at larger resorts. During check-in, the owner’s nephew (I think?) spent ten minutes drawing little maps on napkins, showing me which beaches the locals actually go to versus the crowded ones in guidebooks. That 9.2 rating makes total sense when you experience that kind of personal attention.

What really won me over was the location’s versatility. Mornings, you can drive down to Gennadi Beach – this long stretch of pebbles and sand that’s never packed, even in July. The water’s crystalline and there’s this little taverna where the owner catches his own fish. But here’s the thing most people miss: Villa George sits perfectly for exploring the island’s wild interior too. There are these incredible hiking trails through pine forests that lead to abandoned medieval villages – stuff you’d never find if you stayed in Rhodes Town. The hotel keeps mountain bikes if you’re into that, and parking is never an issue (trust me, after dealing with Rhodes’ old town parking situation, this matters). Evenings get quiet up here, which some might find too peaceful, but I loved falling asleep to cicadas instead of scooter engines. The pool area stays lit until late, and there’s something magical about swimming under those Greek stars while the valley spreads out below you.

Honestly, Villa George feels like it attracts people who want to actually experience Rhodes rather than just Instagram it. During my stay, I met a German couple who’d been coming back for five years, and this young family from Athens who drove down specifically because their kids could run around safely. It’s that kind of place – relaxed enough for families but sophisticated enough that you won’t feel out of place if you’re looking for a romantic getaway. Just don’t expect nightlife within walking distance; you’ll need to drive for that. But sometimes, that’s exactly what makes a place special.

We loved this house. You can find everything in the house and it is very spacious. Apolakkia is small village without tourist and with lots of friendly people.

  • Simonaitis from United Kingdom – 20 August 2022 (7/10)

    Spacious villa.
Nice, quiet location on an edge of the village.

What could be improved: Too much clutter.
    Small bathrooms.
Could do with some maintenance/updating in places and better cleaning.

Dom położony na uboczu urokliwej wioski. W okolicy kilka tawern oraz mały sklepik. W pobliżu spokojne piękne plaże.
Bezproblemowy dojazd i obsługa. Sam dom przestronny i schludny.
    Gorąco polecamy!

  • Andrea from Netherlands – 1 September 2024 (8/10)

Mooi ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Rustig gelegen.
De herten lopen voor het huis langs!
Het dorpje is Knus en authentiek.

What could be improved: Bij aankomst was de vloer vies, er lagen kaaskruimels in de koelkast.
