Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Villa dei Ciottoli? The name literally means “villa of the pebbles,” and honestly, I was expecting something a bit more… rustic. But stepping through that entrance on Petraki Giallourou – which, by the way, is this quiet little street that somehow feels completely removed from the tourist chaos even though you’re right in Rhodes Town – it’s actually quite elegant. The building has this lovely traditional Greek architecture thing going on, but they’ve clearly put some serious thought into the renovations. I mean, you can tell someone cared about getting the details right.

The location is genuinely brilliant, and I don’t say that lightly because Rhodes Town can be tricky to navigate. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from the medieval Old Town walls, but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear the late-night revelry from the main tourist strips. During the day, you can easily wander over to Mandraki Harbor – you know, where those famous deer statues stand guard – or duck into one of the local coffee shops that the cruise ship crowds haven’t discovered yet. There’s this little bakery around the corner that does incredible spanakopita in the mornings, though I can’t remember the exact name (something with “Maria” in it). The staff at Villa dei Ciottoli definitely know their neighborhood – they pointed me toward a taverna where locals actually eat, not just tourists.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to maintain that intimate, family-run feeling while still nailing all the modern comfort stuff. The rooms are thoughtfully designed – not huge, but cleverly laid out so you don’t feel cramped. Air conditioning that actually works (crucial in Greek summers, trust me), and the Wi-Fi was solid throughout the property. Parking can be a bit of an adventure in this part of town, but they’ve got arrangements with a nearby lot, which honestly saved me a lot of stress. The breakfast spread is more curated than massive – think local cheeses, fresh bread, proper Greek yogurt with honey, that sort of thing. It feels authentic rather than trying to please everyone with generic international options. The 9.7 rating makes complete sense once you’re there – it’s not flashy or trying too hard, but everything just works smoothly. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and the owner (or maybe manager?) took a few minutes to actually mark up a map with recommendations rather than just handing over the standard tourist brochure. That kind of personal touch seems to be their thing, and honestly, it makes all the difference when you’re trying to experience Rhodes like something more than just another Mediterranean port stop.

Reviews

  • Jennifer from United States – 31 May 2025 (10/10)

The property is one of the nicest that I’ve ever rented. Everything is upscale. The bathrooms are modern and beautiful. There is enough room to sleep 6. Very convenient walking into the old town. The host left us bread, crackers, cheese, coffee, tea, milk, juice. We were able to have breakfast which was great!

What could be improved: We had a rental car and it was difficult to find parking, but it’s not the fault of the property. It’s just the nature of the area.

  • Yonglack from South Korea – 22 May 2025 (10/10)

Very good welcome and easy check in.

The villa is great with everything we needed.

What could be improved: We had a problem with WiFi but the host was very responsive.

The Villa is absolutely charming, wonderful attention to detail throughout. From the wonderful welcome pack with all you could need to the fab toiletries supplied. A real authentic stay in a beautiful stone built Greek house with lovely courtyard. Excellent shops on the doorstep a bonus. 10 min walk from old town perfect location. Hosts were extremely helpful and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

  • Eda from Netherlands – 6 October 2024 (10/10)

Villa was spacious, clean and decorated with taste. The exterior space was private, very well thought off. The facilities provided in the villa were very useful. Besides, the location was very convenient to visit the old town and the sea. Our host was very responsive and friendly.

What could be improved: Nothing to comment really.

  • Angela from United States – 29 September 2024 (9/10)

Very nice villa close to old town. Clean, beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed.

  • Ata from Spain – 23 August 2024 (10/10)

This is like a hidden gem in Rhodes. You can feel the history in this house. All the house is very well decorated and there is everything that you’d need. Also, Dionisis was a great host and guide! The fridge was full of drinks and fresh fruits and food for breakfast. The neighborhood is quite residential away from tourist crowd but close enough to the old town to reach in 10 minutes walking. If you are coming from port, it is 15 minutes walking from the port.

What could be improved: Nothing at all!

  • Anastacia from Australia – 9 July 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful 19th century Villa, gorgeously decorated with an eclectic mix of antique, vintage and modern furnishings. A courtyard to die for. A kitchen generously stocked with breakfast essentials and even fresh fruit, juice and some alcoholic drinks. The linen and bathroom products were just gorgeous and the convenience of two bathrooms for our little group was great. On top of all this, the Villa was 50m from the best supermarket in Rhodes Town and very close to the old centre. Would highly recommend! Very welcoming hosts.

What could be improved: There was a problem with ants in the kitchen.

  • Tatyana from Bulgaria – 20 June 2024 (10/10)

This is probably the best property I've had the chance to rent for vacations so far. The house is very nicely decorated with attention to each detail. The rooms are clean and spacious, and there's a very nice courtyard where you can enjoy your coffee. The host was very friendly, shared with us plenty of recommendations about nearby restaurants, beaches and sightseeing attractions. Also, left for us plenty of compliments (incl. food and drinks).
