Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Villa Chrysa in Afandou – you know how these smaller Greek hotels can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It sits right in the heart of Afandou village, which I’ll be honest, most tourists completely skip on their way to the busier beach towns. Big mistake on their part, because this little spot gives you that authentic Rhodes experience without the cruise ship crowds trampling around everywhere.

The thing about Villa Chrysa is that it feels like someone’s well-to-do relative just happened to open up their family compound to guests. The owners – and I mean this in the nicest way – are everywhere, but not in an annoying hovering sense. More like they genuinely want to make sure you’re not missing out on anything. They’ll casually mention that the bakery down Ethnikis Antistaseos opens at 6 AM if you want the best tiropita on the island (and trust me, you do), or that Thursday mornings there’s this little farmers market behind the church where locals actually shop. The kind of intel you’d never get staying at one of those massive resort complexes down in Faliraki.

What really got me was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The Wi-Fi works everywhere – I mean everywhere, even out by the pool area where I spent way too many mornings pretending to work. The rooms have these thick shutters that block out every bit of light, which is clutch when you’ve been out late exploring Rhodes Town and need to sleep past sunrise. And the shower pressure? Look, I’ve stayed in five-star places where you’re basically getting misted by sad water droplets, but here it’s like they understand that after a day of hiking around ancient ruins in 85-degree heat, you want a proper shower. The whole place stays surprisingly quiet too, even though you’re right in the village – something about the way it’s tucked back from the main road, I think. You’ll hear the occasional motorbike puttering by in the evening, but it’s more charming than disruptive. Plus, parking is actually straightforward, which anyone who’s tried to navigate a rental car through Greek village streets will appreciate. That 9.8 rating isn’t just people being nice – this place genuinely delivers on the things that make or break a trip, while keeping that laid-back Greek island vibe that’s getting harder to find these days.

  The swimming pool was amazing, the house had a lot of space for all the 11 of us (6 adults and 5 kids).
  Surroundings are quiet and silent. Big barbecue available.
  The host was very friendly and supportive, he helped us a lot when we had an issue due to public water shortage.

  The whole stay was absolutely perfect, villa was very comfortable, well equipped & met all our needs. Our days were spent relaxing by the gorgeous pool and grounds. Afandou was a lovely little village with nice restaurants, bars shops. The best part was how helpful and accommodating Savvas was to us. I had messaged him several times before with numerous questions regarding resort, transfers etc. he also arranged trips for us and was overall an extremely gracious and accommodating host.

  Excellent host, very responsive. We had an issue with the water to the house turning off twice during our stay and he was very helpful giving us information even late at night. He also brought a delicious breakfast one morning.

  Propre, spacieux avec une dépendance. Nous étions 10 et avons passé un super séjour. Le propriétaire est au top avec des petites attentions. Clim dans chaque chambre et le salon. Parking intérieur pouvant accueillir plusieurs voitures.

  La villa è veramente bella, con ampi spazi esterni, in zona di assoluta tranquillità e in posizione centrale tra la città di Rodi e quella di Lindos e a pochi minuti di auto dalle più belle spiagge dell'isola. La vacanza è stata poi resa speciale dell'accoglienza e dalla gentilezza del proprietario, una persona davvero speciale che sa bene cosa vuol dire l'accoglienza. Grazie Saverio!!
