You know what struck me first about Villa Blanca? It’s tucked away in Charaki – and I mean really tucked away, not that fake “hidden gem” stuff you usually read about. This little fishing village sits on Rhodes’ east coast, and honestly, most tourists zip right past it heading to Lindos. Their loss, because Villa Blanca sits right where the village meets this gorgeous pebble beach that locals actually use. I watched old Greek guys setting up their fishing nets at dawn from my balcony, which sounds cheesy but was actually pretty magical with that morning light hitting the water.

The hotel itself feels like someone’s well-off aunt decided to open a boutique place – it’s got that polished but not stuffy vibe going on. Four stars seems about right, maybe even conservative. The rooms are spacious (I had one of the sea-view ones on the second floor), and the AC actually works properly, which… well, if you’ve been to Greece in August, you know that’s not always a given. What I really appreciated was the attention to small stuff – proper shower pressure, blackout curtains that actually block light, and a mini-fridge that keeps things cold. The Wi-Fi reaches the pool area too, though honestly you might not want to be checking emails when you’re looking out at that view.

Here’s the thing about Charaki that makes Villa Blanca special – you’re about a ten-minute drive from Lindos (the hotel can arrange transfers), but you get to escape back to something that feels authentic. There are maybe four tavernas in the village, and Dimitris at the one closest to the hotel makes this grilled octopus that’s… I mean, I’m still thinking about it months later. The hotel staff seemed to know everyone in town, which meant they could point you toward the good stuff – like the hiking trail up to Feraklos Castle that starts basically behind the village church. Takes about 45 minutes if you’re reasonably fit, and the views are ridiculous. Parking’s easy and free right outside the hotel, which saves you the headache you get in bigger resort towns. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re expecting a huge pool scene, this isn’t it – the pool’s nice but small, more for cooling off than doing laps. But honestly, with that beach literally across the narrow village road, who cares? The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you factor in the location, the genuine hospitality, and the fact that you’re getting a slice of Greek island life without the cruise ship crowds.

  Everything was perfect. Well equipped kitchen , spotlessly clean , beautiful location , sun beds with umbrella was a real bonus . A few steps away from excellent friendly family run restaurants . Great communication with the owner who met us on arrival and explained everything we needed to know . A lovely welcome cold bottle of wine and water in the fridge which was much appreciated .
  We didn’t hire a car but would recommend as the island is worth seeing and if you are self catering there are only 3 small convenience shops selling a small amount of produce . We hired a car from M and S car hire in Haraki , very easy to rent as we were out of season , but probably need to book up if busy season . Overall we had the best , most relaxing and calm holiday . Thank you to Villa Blanca and Kim for an amazing stay we will definitely be back .

  What could be improved: Down stairs bathroom isn’t ideal but you soon get used to it. This is not by anyway an issue and didn’t cause any problems. In the same sense it’s easier to use bathroom during the day

  Spacious accommodation. Great location 3 steps to the beach. Seconds from beach bars and restaurants. Vicky and Kim both really helpful.

  Fantastic, quiet and very relaxing location right on the first line of the Haraki beach. Beautiful view from the windows to the sea and stunning view from the outside sitting area to the small village and castle ruins up on the hill – amazing and soothing your soul. We enjoyed drinking morning coffee or afternoon wine on the veranda. The whole villa is protected against the mosquitos and with AC in all rooms. Owner was very nice and helpful. All restaurants are really close with nice staff and better prices than in other bigger resorts in Rhodos. Highly recommended !

  Excellent house, big, clean and cozy. The location couldn't be more ideal. Right on the beach. Lots of little restaurants close by, but still extremely quiet and relaxed. Lovely hospitable owner. We will definitely come back to Villa Blanca!

  Excellent location – absolutely first line on the beach. Beautiful vila with huge kitchen, two bedrooms, washing machine. The view from the veranda is just stunning. AC in each room. Free parking behind the vila, as well as bus stop. Amazing restaurants just 1 minute away. The vila has free of charge umbrella and sun-beds just in front on the beach. Vicky has cleaned the vila to perfection and Kim was always available for us with her inside, local information. Absolutely great!!!

  House is very new, clean, quite area. Each room was protected for flies or mosquitos.We enjoyed a lot drinking our coffees on the veranda, while our kids were swimming just infront of us. Restaurants and coffes nearby are really perfect. All breakfasts, we were with Bottom Up, delicious and very friendly staff. i strongly advice Seafood restaurant Argo. Just in 5 minutes, Golden Sand beach, Agathi Beach is one of the most beautiful on the island. Car parking is easy and free around. Each room upstairs has one double bed which is quite nice for family stay. A lovely sea view from all the windows. Without leaving the villa, we already booked for the next year. And we definetely will do it every following year.
