My room had these thick stone walls that kept things blissfully cool even during the August heat, and honestly, the air conditioning barely needed to run. The pool area is where I spent most mornings – not huge, but positioned perfectly to catch the morning sun while staying shaded by olive trees in the afternoon. What I really appreciated was the lack of pool deck politics, you know? No racing to claim chairs with towels at dawn. The staff (especially Dimitris at the front desk) seem to genuinely care about making sure you know the insider stuff – like which beach tavernas the locals actually eat at versus the tourist traps along the main coastal road.

Here’s the thing about staying in Koskinou versus somewhere like Lindos or Faliraki – you get this authentic Greek island rhythm without sacrificing comfort. Villa Artemis understands this balance perfectly. The village comes alive around sunset when the grandmothers emerge to water their flowerpots and the men gather at the kafeneio, but it’s peacefully quiet by 10 PM. Parking is actually manageable here (unlike Rhodes Old Town where you’ll circle for twenty minutes), and you’re a quick drive to both the east coast beaches with their crystal-clear water and the busier west side if you want more action. The hotel’s breakfast – well, it’s not just the standard continental spread. They source from local suppliers, so the tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes, and the honey comes from hives you can literally see on the hillsides. My only minor gripe? The WiFi gets a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s online, but honestly, that forced digital detox might be exactly what you need. If you’re looking for a place that feels genuinely Greek without roughing it, and you want to experience Rhodes the way it actually is rather than the postcard version, Villa Artemis gets it right.
