You know what struck me first about Villa 56? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Sofoulou Street – that most tourists completely miss, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from all the main Rhodes Town action. I mean, you step out the door and you can practically smell the souvlaki from the tavernas around the corner, but at night it’s surprisingly peaceful. No crowds stumbling back from bars at 2am, which honestly was a relief.

The apartments themselves feel more like staying at a stylish friend’s place than some sterile hotel room. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too – not just for show like in some places. I actually cooked breakfast a couple times because there’s this little produce market about five minutes away where locals shop (you’ll spot it by the elderly Greek women arguing passionately about tomatoes). The bathrooms are modern without being cold, and the beds… well, let’s just say I slept better there than I do at home. The air conditioning works brilliantly, which you’ll appreciate if you visit during those sweltering July afternoons when Rhodes Town feels like an oven.

What really sets this place apart though is how the owners seem to actually care about getting the details right. Check-in was smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation.” The Wi-Fi doesn’t mysteriously disappear every hour. There’s even decent water pressure, which sounds trivial until you’ve spent a week somewhere with a shower that dribbles. And here’s something I didn’t expect – they provide proper coffee, not those weird instant packets that taste like disappointment. The whole building feels well-maintained without being precious about it, if that makes sense. You’re not afraid to put your bag down or use the white towels.

Location-wise, you’re close enough to walk to the Medieval City in about eight minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds every time you want to grab lunch. The Palace of the Grand Master is right there, obviously, but what I loved was being able to duck into those little side streets in the old town, then retreat back to somewhere that felt like home base. There’s parking nearby too, which is honestly a miracle in Rhodes Town – most places just shrug and wish you luck. The staff pointed me toward a spot that actually worked, not just the closest expensive garage.

Is it perfect? Well, the street can get a bit busy during morning rush hour – Greeks drive like they’re personally offended by traffic laws – but it settles down quickly. And if you’re someone who needs a full-service hotel with a concierge and room service, this isn’t that. But if you want somewhere comfortable and genuine where you can actually live a bit like a local, Villa 56 nails it. That 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there.

  Private pool in apt 1 was bigger than expected, and the staff were very kind and responsive. Apt was spacious, well privisioned and bed was comfy! Location is also nice distance from both new and old town, and nearest supermarket is practically next door! Also the restaurant Kalamakia down the road has the best souvlaki i've had in a decade!
  
  What could be improved: The wifi router seemed to struggle a little with more than 2 devices, though it worked fairly consistantly. If you get a hire car, it can be tricky to get a space on the road nearby, though we did manage it throughout the week.

  The flat is modern, very spacious and well appointed. Spotlessly clean. The private pool made the holiday perfect. Not everyone wants TV while away.. However some evenings we personally enjoyed watching Prime n Apple TV on huge smart tvs (using our own log ins) at night when returned from evening out. The apartment is in a residential area .. it’s only a 10 min walk downhill to the old town, 15 mins to new town and about 20 – 25 mins to Elli Beach. It wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility problems… but fabulous for those who are reasonably fit enough to walk. The supermarket at end of the road was friendly, reasonable and stocked everything we needed. There’s an amazing bakers just up the road (I can testify for the gorgeous cakes, bread & rolls) and a super shoe shop near the bakery ( returned with 3 pairs of sandals !). Kalia host was lovely and took time to check on us. We would love to return.
  
  What could be improved: The road at the front of the apartment is very busy .. although didn’t affect our holiday in any way. We hired a car for the 10 days … street parking nearby is a bit of a nightmare… but we managed.

  Came here last year with my partner and returned this year with my family – had a great time like last time. The outdoor space and pool with the private pool apartment is perfect.
  
  What could be improved: Other apartment not quite as good as the private pool however still a great place to stay and has the use of the fantastic large pool!

  Beautiful apartment, ideally located for everything, kind and very helpful hosts. Private pool was lovely. Apartment was very well equipped and very quiet at night.

  The apartment had everything we needed, the pool was perfect.
  A hidden gem in the area. The location is great for going down to the beach and into the old town.
  So easy to check in. The owners were very responsive and prompt with telling us all we needed to know before arriving.
