Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Traounou Serenity Villa in Afantou – I mean, the name sounds a bit fancy for what I thought would be just another Greek island hotel. But you know what? Sometimes being wrong feels pretty great. This place actually lives up to that 9.4 rating, and I’m someone who’s usually skeptical of anything over 9.0.

The villa sits in this quiet residential area of Afantou that most tourists completely miss because they’re all rushing to Rhodes Town or Lindos. Which is honestly perfect if you’re looking for that authentic Greek experience without the cruise ship crowds. The owner clearly knows the neighborhood – there’s this little taverna about a five-minute walk down the hill where locals actually eat (not the tourist trap closer to the main road), and the beach access is way better than what you’ll find in the busier spots. I actually spent more time on Afantou Beach than I planned because it’s this perfect mix of organized sections with umbrellas and completely wild stretches where you can have the sand pretty much to yourself, especially in the mornings.

What really got me about Traounou Serenity Villa was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a hotel – good linens that have been washed a million times so they’re actually soft, proper blackout curtains (seriously, why don’t more places get this right?), and the kind of air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. The kitchen setup is practical too, which matters if you’re planning to hit the local market and actually cook some of those gorgeous tomatoes and olive oil you’ll find everywhere. Parking was never an issue, and check-in felt more like a conversation than a transaction – the kind of place where they remember your name and ask how your day trip to Symi went. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the Wi-Fi can get a bit spotty during peak evening hours when everyone’s uploading their sunset photos, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. You’re in Greece, after all.

  All of it. I love the jacuzzi, the house was neat and everything was so comfortable. Even the swimming pool wasn't as cold as I thought. Definitely going back.

  Wonderful swimming pool surrounded by nature and short distance by car to everything very clean and helpful staff to all requests.
  The house is big and comfortable with a good kitchen. Short walk to a nice beach but don't forget taking the car to the other many beaches of Rhodes. There is a table inside and a small one outside; I suggest adding a slightly bigger table outside.
  Overall it was a wonderful relaxing stay
  
  What could be improved: The making of the two single beds of one of the bedroom does not allow to join them properly leaving a gap in between. Excellent for families, friends, 1 couple but not 2 couples if you want 2 double beds

  For starters, the villa itself is wonderful. Everything is brand new and done with taste. It has a great size pool and jacuzzi, sun beds, large front and back yard, and is fully equipped with everything you might need. There are no immediate neighbors so the kids were able to be as noisy as they wanted without us worrying about disturbing anyone. There are empty fields with olive trees on both sides, and we even had a visit from a friendly cow! The villa is surrounded with a beautiful stone fence and metal garage gate so you can enjoy full privacy and security.
  
  The managers were friendly and efficient and you could tell they really care and want you to have a good experience.
  
  The location is spectacular. Just a 5 minute walk or one minute drive to the quiet beach, 5 minute drive to the busting nightlife of Filarki, 8 minutes to Anthony queen bay, and many supermarkets close by.
  Rohdes center on one side and Lindos on the other are a fairly short drive as well.

  It really was an excellent choice. I really loved the size of the swimming pool! What I like the most was that Traounou Caves was very close and only a few minutes walk to swim to. Also I was very excited to see the dama dama deers to walk around the house in search for water to drink. Something that I've never seen before. Relaxing and peaceful place to stay!

  Our host was available and showed us around, helped us get settled in nicely. A nice house with a nice hot tub and pool.
  
  What could be improved: Our visit was pre-season so it could have used some more sprucing up and the hot tub wasn't warm yet. But it was our choice to stay out of season.
