Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place on Gavala Street? It’s actually quiet – and I mean properly quiet, which is honestly a miracle when you’re staying right in Rhodes Old Town. Most people think staying inside the medieval walls means dealing with crowds and noise all night, but this traditional house sits on one of those narrow cobblestone streets that tourists sort of walk past without really exploring. Smart positioning, really.
The house itself feels like someone’s actual Greek grandmother lived there for decades before deciding to share it with travelers. Three proper bedrooms spread across what I’m guessing is a 15th or 16th century building – you can tell from the thick stone walls that keep everything cool even when it’s blazing hot outside in July. The rooms have this lived-in authenticity that you don’t get in those sanitized hotel chains, with wooden shutters that actually work (crucial for afternoon naps) and floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re somewhere with history. I mean, the whole building probably has stories that would make your head spin, but honestly, after walking around the Palace of the Grand Master and the Street of the Knights all day, you just want somewhere that feels real to come back to.
What really sold me on the location – and this is something you only figure out after staying a few nights – is that you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Socratous Street where all the tourist restaurants are, but you’re also ridiculously close to where locals actually eat. There’s this tiny taverna tucked behind Argyrokastrou Square that I stumbled onto just by following the smell of grilled octopus one evening, and I never would’ve found it if I’d been staying outside the walls. Plus, and this matters more than people realize, you can actually walk back to the house after dinner without dealing with taxi nonsense or that uphill climb from Mandraki Harbor. The whole Old Town becomes your neighborhood instead of just a day-trip destination. Sure, you’ll hear some late-night revelry echoing off the stone walls during peak season – it’s not a monastery – but by midnight things settle down pretty nicely. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you spend a few days here; it’s one of those places that gets better the longer you stay because you start feeling like a temporary local instead of just another tourist taking photos of the same doorways everyone else photographs.

The apartment was extremely spacious and airy, with high ceilings and effective Aircon, which was very necessary in June. I also loved the decor, which was filled with character. Location was perfect, with a 2 minute walk to the nearest restaurant, and 5 minutes to the nearest beach. The local area was also very picturesque.

this is a traditional home with lots of history. the furniture was in keeping with type of building. it was well equipped, lovely outdoor areas to sit. it can easily accommodate 6 people. its quiet but two minutes away from all the tourist shops restaurants etc. my friends and I loved our stay.
What could be improved: we had a little problem with the front door but once we realized how the whole thing worked we were fine. in fact we never used keys only the code they gave us. the tv control needs some looking at! in the end it was so nice there we never needed the tv!Ita from United Kingdom – 30 October 2022 (9/10)
The house is very spacious with 3 double bedrooms, a big kitchen, two separate sitting areas and a big bathroom as well as an outside toilet. It is a typical old town country house and we loved the style.
It was located within walking distance of restaurants in the old town and not far either from the new town and its port. It was handy we could walk everywhere and the owners gave us clear instructions on how to reach the property as cars are not allowed inside unless you are a resident.
The owners let us check in very early which was a plus as we wanted to explore the town and it would have been inconvinient to have to carry out luggage. The owners were very friendly and responsive whenever we needed something.
What could be improved: If you are sleeping upstairs (2 of the bedrooms are upstairs and 1 downstairs) beware that the bathroom is far from the bedrooms, downstairs. It is also a little bit outdated.
But overall we enjoyed our stay here.Alison from Australia – 24 July 2022 (10/10)
This traditionally furnished home is located in a quiet neighbourhood, but is only a short walk to all the touristy parts of Rhodes Old Town (and only 2 minutes walking from the gate to the Old Town if your taxi is unable to drive in). The photos of the property are accurate. The beds are comfortable and there are excellent air-conditioners in the bedrooms (although there is also very good natural ventilation too, so they were only needed when really hot). The shower has excellent water pressure and reliable hot water. There is a full-size fridge with a freezer, a gas/electric hotplate and oven, and a washing machine and a washing line on the rooftop for drying clothes in the sun. The wifi worked well. Christos was a great host – he met us when we arrived to give us the keys, and offered us information about things to do in Rhodes. He was readily available via phone if we had needed him.

Cozy old house in a perfect location, 5 mins walk from tourist center and port. Several outdoor locations, quiet place, balcony & roof terrace.
What could be improved: Some locks needs to be lubricated, wooden staircase is too loudGrzegorz from Poland – 2 November 2022 (10/10)
