You know what caught me off guard about The Wine Hotel? It’s tucked away on Platónos Street in Rhodes Town, and honestly, I almost walked right past it the first time – but that’s actually part of its charm. The building has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” which I really appreciated after seeing so many flashy places around the island.

The location is pretty brilliant once you figure out the lay of the land. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the medieval Old Town (I mean, you can practically hear the tour groups during peak hours, but it quiets down beautifully in the evenings), and the New Market is just around the corner where locals actually shop. The staff seems to get that most guests want to explore beyond the typical tourist circuit – they pointed me toward this little taverna on Omírou Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. What really impressed me was how they handled the whole wine theme without making it gimmicky. I was expecting some over-the-top vineyard aesthetic, but it’s more sophisticated than that – wine-inspired artwork, a genuinely good selection at their bar, and they clearly know their Greek varietals. The rooms have these deep, warm colors that somehow make you want to settle in with a glass of something red, even if you’re not usually a wine person.

Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of town (honestly, most of Rhodes Town is like that), but they’ve got arrangements with a nearby lot, and the front desk actually gives you proper directions instead of just vague gestures. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you stay here – it’s not just the big things, but little details like how the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train, or how the shower pressure is actually decent, which you can’t take for granted in older Greek buildings. The breakfast spread leans heavily into local ingredients, and I loved that they had proper Greek coffee alongside the standard hotel coffee setup. Sure, it gets a bit busy during the summer months, and you’ll definitely hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper, but there’s something authentic about falling asleep to the sounds of Rhodes Town settling in for the night. For a four-star place, it punches above its weight – not because it’s trying to be something it’s not, but because it’s really good at being exactly what it is.

  First of all, the staff is very friendly and want to help you not only during the stay but also after the stay is finished. The commitment for customer satisfaction was incredible, this trait was much much better than any place I have stayed. I would like to give you an example but I’m pretty sure it would be our experience, and other guests must have experiences that satisfied them as much as it did for us.
  Secondly, breakfast is very satisfying, again it was by far one one of the best value I’ve got throughout my travels.
  Thirdly the location was great, as it is very cöose to nightlife (ie fuego and live music is just downstairs) but interestingly no sound into our room due to great insulation. Also being in the center of old town, very easy to see historic sites. Additionaly there is a supermarket just next door.
  
  What could be improved: Maybe it was only our room and we forgot to complain due to great experiences we had but the toilet flush in our room was very strong of which after the liquid spills out if we flush too fast.

  Loved the location and staying in old town. Staff and management are exceptional, friendly and provide a super attentive service. Rooms are modern, clean with lots of sockets, toiletries etc. breakfast is delicious, big menu, again service is excellent.

  Absolutely everything. Our room and bathroom were small, but very comfortable and certainly big enough for our needs.

  Clean, new and great location. Lovely breakfast and staff. The showers are great too
  
  What could be improved: The check-in process felt rushed. We stayed here twice, bookending our trip at the Wine Hotel and both times we arrived we weren’t told any information about breakfast times, WiFi etc. As we booked this holiday so long ago we had forgotten we had an included breakfast, so missed it on the first morning, so telling us what time breakfast started at check in may have reminded us.
