Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Menekleous Street – it’s one of those narrow cobblestone lanes in Rhodes Old Town where you’re dodging scooters and trying not to get lost in the maze of medieval walls. But then you spot The Knights Courtyard tucked away there, and it just clicks. This isn’t some cookie-cutter hotel trying to capitalize on the tourist traffic; it’s actually something special.

The whole place feels like someone took a genuine piece of Rhodes history and turned it into exactly what you’d want for a few nights. I mean, you’re literally staying within the UNESCO World Heritage walls here, maybe a three-minute walk from the Palace of the Grand Master – though honestly, you’ll probably get turned around at least once trying to find your way back through those winding streets (everyone does). What struck me most was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic medieval atmosphere without making you feel like you’re roughing it. The courtyard itself – and yeah, that’s really the heart of the place – has this perfect balance where you can sit with your morning coffee and actually hear birds instead of traffic, which is pretty remarkable considering you’re in the middle of one of Greece’s busiest tourist destinations.

You know what really impressed me though? The staff actually knows the area. Not just the obvious stuff like where to catch the bus to Lindos, but they’ll tell you which tavernas the locals hit up (hint: not the ones with the guys out front trying to pull you in from the main squares), or when to visit the Street of the Knights before the cruise ship crowds arrive around 10 AM. The rooms themselves are exactly what you’d hope for – comfortable without being flashy, with that solid, cool-stone feeling that keeps things pleasant even during those scorching July afternoons. Air conditioning works perfectly, which… well, if you’ve traveled around the Greek islands much, you know that’s not always a given.

Parking’s actually sorted if you’re driving – they’ll point you toward spots that won’t cost you a fortune, though honestly, once you’re settled in the Old Town, you won’t need your car much. The whole medieval city is walkable, and there’s something pretty magical about stepping out your door in the evening when the day-trippers have headed back to their cruise ships and the golden hour light is hitting those ancient walls just right. I’ve stayed in fancier places in Rhodes, sure, but this one just gets the balance right – authentic location, genuinely helpful service, and that rare feeling that you’re experiencing the real character of the place rather than some sanitized tourist version of it.

    What could be improved: –

  • Maria from United Kingdom – 14 September 2024 (9/10)

Very centrally located in the hub-bub of the old town , outdoor space to relax and had all the amenities required for a holiday break. Owners were very welcoming and helpful.

What could be improved: Due to the location there is often noise during the night/ early morning. It didn’t bother us too much but we couldn’t leave the windows open at night.

  • Mia from United Kingdom – 31 August 2024 (10/10)

Great location and very spacious. Has a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms (one double, two singles) and a bathroom. There is also a terrace area to sit in the sun. Location is ideal and minutes away from shops and the main centre. We were only here for a night but enjoyed it and Barbara and Alex were extremely helpful and accommodating, including letting us leave our luggage in a storage area after check out.

What could be improved: The only thing to be aware of is that it is next to a restaurant which has music at night. The windows have shutters which are helpful although you can hear it until around 12. We didn’t find it too much of a problem and this is to be expected anywhere this central! Overall a great stay with fantastic hosts.

  • Владислав from Bulgaria – 20 June 2024 (10/10)

A lovely large home with an interior garden in the heart of the old town with an extremely warm host. Barbara, thank you!

  • Katarzyna from Finland – 15 May 2024 (10/10)

Communication with the host was easy, he answered all questions very quickly. We arrived in the middle of the night, there was no problem with collecting the keys, Alex was waiting for us. A beautiful terrace encouraged us to spend time outside. The location in the middle of the Old Town is perfect. I recommend!

  • Day from United Kingdom – 3 May 2024 (10/10)

We had a very warm welcome. It's an amazing apartment in a great location. It has everything you could possibly need. The sunny terrace is just lovely too.

  • Alper from Turkey – 13 April 2024 (10/10)

location, facilities, cleanliness, everything was great. All attractions, cafes, port etc are in walking distance. Alex, Barbara and Dimitri made us feel at home. If we come back to Rhodes, we will definitely stay here again.

What could be improved: It would be perfect if there was a small coffee machine 🙂

  • Bunn from Greece – 5 November 2023 (10/10)

Absolutely amazing, right in the heart of the old city, restaurants, museums & shopping all a stones throw away. Residence was a house with a beautiful courtyard for wine nights. So impressed with Barbaras welcome and local knowledge that I am coming back.

What could be improved: Nothing it was beautiful

  • Leeann from United States – 2 June 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well appointed, right in the heart of the old town. It has been in the owner's family for some time, and feels like a home in the best way. There was a private patio and a cool view from the roof. We loved being able to do laundry, and – Americans take note – there was a drip coffee maker with filters and ground coffee in the fridge! Big windows with leafy views of several tavernas right below, so lots of live traditional music and good food. We enjoyed Romeos. Also, Barbara the host, was wonderful.

What could be improved: Those tavernas stay open late and deliveries start early, so bring good earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
