You know what struck me first about Thalassa Studios? The name actually makes sense when you see it – thalassa means “sea” in Greek, and honestly, you can catch glimpses of blue from most of the rooms if you crane your neck just right. It’s tucked into this quieter part of Faliraki, maybe a seven-minute walk from the main strip where all the bars and tourist chaos happens, which is honestly perfect timing-wise. Close enough that you’re not hiking in flip-flops after a few drinks, but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk Brits singing football chants at 3 AM.

The studios themselves are pretty solid for what you’re paying – I mean, we’re talking about a 4-star place that actually feels like it earned those stars, not like some places that seem to buy their ratings online. Each room has this little kitchenette setup that’s actually functional (the fridge gets properly cold, the stovetop works), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a dying helicopter, which is more than I can say for half the places I’ve stayed in Greece. The pool area is where people tend to hang out during those brutal afternoon hours – it’s got enough shade trees that you’re not completely roasting, and the water’s usually clean, though it gets pretty busy around 2 PM when everyone’s avoiding the beach heat.

What I really appreciate is how the staff actually knows the area. The guy at reception – Nikos, I think – steered me toward this little taverna about ten minutes up the hill that doesn’t even have a sign, just incredible grilled octopus and house wine that costs less than a coffee back home. That’s the kind of local knowledge you don’t get at the big resort chains. The walk to Faliraki Beach is totally doable, maybe twelve minutes down a fairly decent path, though coming back uphill in the afternoon sun will test your commitment to fitness. There’s also decent parking if you rent a car, which I’d recommend since you’ll want to explore some of the smaller beaches along the coast – Ladiko Beach is only about fifteen minutes away and way less crowded than the main Faliraki stretch.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but Thalassa Studios gets the fundamentals right. The beds are comfortable, the wifi actually works (crucial for posting those sunset photos), and you’re positioned perfectly to either join the party scene or escape from it depending on your mood. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s reliably good without being fancy, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need for a Greek island getaway.

  It was in an amazing location right across from the beach, great value for money. The room was cleaned each day with new towels and sheets. Close to restaurants and takeaway aswell as the bus into the old town of Rhodes. The bus stop to other locations is close by aswell, just on the main road (F18). Lovely staff
  
  What could be improved: The hallway of the building smelt strongly of smoke often but you couldn’t smell it in the room so wasn’t really an issue.

  Easy basic room with shower and balcony, there is a fridge and stove. Close to the beach and restaurants. There is no reception, they sent us the room number, the key was sticking out of the door.

  Very clean apartment with good mattress and new bathroom. In the kitchen we had the basics we needed, and we had to ask for a few things, but the owners helped us in everything. The owners are very helpful and nice people and also the cleaning lady who cleaned our room every day is one of the loveliest person we met. Very near to the beach and the city centre, but in a quiet street. We were very happy with everything and will come back next year. Thank you.

  The apartment is beautiful and well equipped. It is located just across the street from the beach, but also the bus stop (F21) where you can catch the bus (line 33 and 40) that goes directly to Rhodes town and other northern places (Kalithea Springs).
  
  
  The air conditioning works well and food can be prepared (two hotplates in a small refrigerator). There are various shops and taverns not far from the apartment, but noise was really not a issue. The main road is a 5-10 minute walk away, where you can find the AB Foodmarket with more affordable prices, but also catch buses (Bus stop No. 17) southern places, including Lindos.
  
  
  The host was kind and available. The room can be cleaned and the sheets changed every day except Sundays. Really all recommendations!
  
  What could be improved: Maybe it would be good to put mosquito nets, but this time it could have been solved with an electronic device.
