You know what hit me first about Tesoro Del Mare? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel like a treasure by the sea, tucked away in Pefki where most tourists haven’t figured out to look yet. I mean, everyone’s still cramming into Rhodes Town or fighting for beach space in Lindos, but Pefki’s got this quieter thing going on that honestly feels more Greek somehow.

The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to the beach in maybe three minutes (and I’m talking a proper walk, not that “beach access” nonsense some places claim), but you’re still close enough to the main Pefki strip that you won’t starve if you can’t be bothered with the hotel restaurant. Speaking of which – the staff here actually seem to remember your name after day two, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re trying to relax. Check-in was smooth, parking’s free and easy (thank god, because navigating rental cars around Rhodes can be… well, let’s just say it’s an adventure), and our room had this view that made me understand why people write terrible poetry about the Mediterranean.

Here’s the thing about staying in Pefki versus somewhere more obvious – you get to feel like you discovered something. The beach here isn’t packed with sun loungers fighting for every inch of sand, and when you do want to explore, Lindos is literally a 10-minute drive away. But honestly? Most days we barely left. The hotel’s got that relaxed vibe where you can spend half the day by the pool reading a book nobody’s judging you for, then wander down to grab fresh fish at one of the family-run tavernas nearby. There’s this one place – can’t remember the name but it’s got blue chairs and sits right where the road curves – where the owner’s wife makes this octopus dish that’ll ruin you for octopus anywhere else.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable, air conditioning that actually works (crucial in July, trust me), and bathrooms where you don’t have to do weird contortions to shower. Nothing fancy, but everything works, and the beds are properly comfortable. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night. You’re close enough to hear the waves if you open the balcony door, but far enough from the main road that you’re not dealing with scooters buzzing by at 2 AM.

Look, Tesoro Del Mare isn’t trying to be the flashiest place on the island, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels wrong – especially when you’re paying reasonable money for beachside access and that particularly Greek brand of hospitality that makes you feel like a regular even when you’re not. If you want to be in the thick of tourist chaos, maybe look elsewhere. But if you want to actually relax and get a taste of what Rhodes feels like when it’s not performing for crowds? This is your spot.

  Beautiful villa in a fabulous position with mountains on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. Lovely friendly staff and a short walk from the beach, shops and restaurants.

  Great location on the beach almost. Very near to the bus stops and only a 10 minute walk into Pefkos.
  
  What could be improved: There is some construction going on in front of the property. It looks like a few small villas are in construction. However, saying that they only worked on two mornings and there was very little noise. Whether in the future there may be more noise I don't know.

  Incredible views, due the balcony going round the corner you catch the sun on the balcony between 9am until sunset, great facilities, staff kept it so clean throughout my stay. Loved my stay from start to finish and would absolutely stay here again if I ever visit Pefkos again.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing I would raise as a concern is that I'm very tall and the private pool rooms outer walls aren't very tall at all so I feel like I unwittingly invaded the privacy of fellow guests on at least one occasion when passing through the entrance. It's a minor minor thing but something for other people to take note of.

  Fantastic location close to Plakia beach, one of the best beaches of Rhodes (even according to locals). You can walk to the beach within 5 minutes which was just what we were looking for. It is located right outside Pefki, meaning that you can easily walk to restaurants and grocery stores close by. There are also free parking spots.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing, perfect spot! We wish we could have stayed longer.

  The location is perfect – a bit away from the town, so it’s very quiet and private, but still in a walkable distance to the closest town with all the restaurants, etc. We explored the whole Rhodes island and didn’t see any better location than this for our stay. Also, since it’s pretty much in the middle of the island, all the attractions were relatively close.
  The apartment was always clean and spacious, the kitchenette is equipped with everything you need to make some breakfast. The sea view from the balcony is beautiful and the beach nearby is really nice and never crowded. The cleaning lady came everyday and kept the place neat and clean.
  The host is a really nice and warm guy, who greeted us in person with amazing Greek sweets and provided instructions.
  
  My top recommendations to everyone, who wants a calm and private stay at spacious and well-equipped apartment with a seaview and beach nearby!
