I actually enjoyed grabbing fresh bread from the little bakery just around the corner and eating it on my balcony while watching the fishing boats come in. The couples who stay here clearly get it — there’s something romantic about being right on the water like this.

That’s worth something. The room itself was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. The air conditioning worked well, which in July is basically all that matters.

One thing that surprised me was how easy it was to explore the island from here. The local bus station is practically next door, so day trips to Lindos or the butterfly valley are simple to arrange. If you rent a car (which I’d recommend), parking in this part of town can be tricky, but the staff helped me figure out where to leave it without getting a ticket. The harbor taxi boats are right there too — I took one to the beach at Faliraki one afternoon just because I could.

Look, this isn’t going to blow you away with amenities or service, but what it does offer is something pretty valuable — a genuine Rhodes Town experience without the tourist hotel bubble. You’re staying where locals actually live and work, not in some resort complex. The morning light hitting the harbor from my window, the sound of the boats, the easy walk to that little restaurant tucked behind the clock tower where they make the best moussaka I had on the island — these are the details that made my stay memorable.
