You know what struck me first about Sun Maris? It’s got this perfect spot right across from St. Nektarios Church in Faliraki – and I mean literally across the street, so you can’t miss it. The church bells actually become part of your morning routine, which sounds annoying but honestly feels pretty authentic to the whole Greek island experience. The hotel itself is this clean, modern four-star place that doesn’t try to be flashy, but everything just… works. Check-in was smooth (they spoke perfect English, thank god), and the lobby has this nice marble thing going on without feeling cold or hotel-chain generic.

What I really appreciated – and this might sound weird – is how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Like, when I asked about getting to Anthony Quinn Bay, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the tourist buses. He told me about this little path that cuts behind the church and saves you twenty minutes of walking along the main road. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get everywhere. The rooms are solid too, properly air-conditioned (crucial in July, trust me), and mine had this little balcony where you could see slice of the sea between the buildings. Nothing dramatic, but nice for morning coffee. The bathroom was completely renovated – you can tell because everything’s that modern white tile that actually stays clean, unlike some of the older places in Faliraki where the grout’s seen better decades.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to fully appreciate: you’re close enough to walk to all the Faliraki action – the beach, the main strip with restaurants, even that crazy bar scene if that’s your thing – but you’re just removed enough that you’re not dealing with drunk British kids stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The church kind of acts as this buffer zone, I guess. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven around Greek islands will tell you is not a given. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be the most luxurious place on Rhodes, but everything they do, they do well. Clean rooms, helpful staff, solid breakfast (proper Greek yogurt, not that weird hotel buffet stuff), and a location that works whether you want to explore or just chill. I mean, I’ve stayed at fancier places that left me more frustrated than this straightforward, well-run spot.

  Hotel is very very clean.
  The location is great, close to the city and the beach, close to everything you need, 30m away from the bus station.
  Mary is a great hostess, helps with all the information, she made exploring the island so much easier.

  Everything.
  Hotel incredibly clean. All public areas constantly cleaned. Apartments are spotless and have everything you need. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment which had lots of space. Pool area and gardens lovely and again spotlessly clean even though we had a few large downpours of rain over our stay.
  Best bit about the place though is your host Mary. She owns and runs it and she never stops. She is the friendliest lady and so helpful with anything you need. We loved her and were so sad to leave after our 5 nights there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely be returning someday.

  Everything was perfect,
  Sun Maris is the place to be if you want to feel at home. Everything was clean, nice pool, good airconditioning, confortable beds, location is central to everything, 5 min walk to the beach, 1 min walk to bus stations, at 1 min away from reastuarants and cocktail bars. Mary is the warmest, and kindest person that I ever met, she will help you with every question you have. At the bar you have delicious drinks and food dat Mary makes. I wish my hollidays could be longer at Sun Maris. Worth to try.

  We could not recommend Sun Maris enough! We would recommend it to anyone traveling to Rhodes.
  From the moment we arrived, Mary made every moment brilliant.
  The hotel itself is lovely. Everything is spotlessly clean and the pool area is gorgeous, but also nice and quiet.
  The location is perfect for exploring Faliraki, walking distance to everything (Shops/Bars/Cafes/restaurants etc.)
  
  What could be improved: We honestly enjoyed every aspect of our stay here. The accommodation was sparkling clean and had all necessities. Simple but everything one would need for a holiday in the sun.
