Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Sun Beach Resort? It’s actually right on Ialysos Beach – and I mean literally steps from the sand, not some vague “beachfront” claim where you’re hiking ten minutes to find water. The whole setup sits perfectly along that stretch of coastline just north of Rhodes Town, where the beach curves in this really nice way that cuts down on the wind you get at some of the more exposed spots along the island.

The thing about this place is it gets the balance right between being polished enough (it’s a solid 4-star, honestly feels like it) without being stuffy or overly formal. The lobby’s got this open, breezy feel that actually makes sense for the location – marble floors that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, and these sitting areas where you can actually hear the waves if you tune out the occasional chatter. Check-in was surprisingly smooth when I was there in July, which can’t be said for every hotel during peak season. The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing, not just going through motions. There’s this one guy at the front desk – older gentleman with perfect English – who knew every bus schedule to Rhodes Old Town off the top of his head, plus he steered me toward this little taverna about a ten-minute walk inland that I never would’ve found otherwise.

The rooms are what you’d expect but done well – clean lines, decent AC (crucial in summer, trust me), and most importantly, they’re quiet. Even the ones facing the pool area don’t get hammered with noise because of how the building’s positioned. If you can swing it, go for something with a sea view on the upper floors – the sunsets over the water are honestly ridiculous, especially from around the third floor up. The bathrooms are modern without being flashy, good water pressure, and they’ve got those little balconies where you can actually sit with morning coffee. Parking’s right there if you rent a car, which I’d recommend – Ialysos is great but you’ll want to explore the rest of the island too. The whole western coast is worth the drive, and you’re maybe twenty minutes from the airport, so no stress about early flights. What really sells this place though is the beach situation – the sand’s that perfect mix of soft enough to walk on comfortably but not so fine it sticks to everything, and the water stays relatively calm thanks to the bay’s shape. You’ll see families with kids, couples, some solo travelers, but it never feels overcrowded even in summer. The hotel’s got an 8.2 rating and honestly, that feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on Rhodes, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises.

  We stayed in one of the ground floor premium rooms, close to the beach. We loved the pool areas! The adults pool is quite luxurious. The pool restaurant was good too. Beach is stony so you need swimshoes. (can be bought in supermarket across the street)
  Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. 🙂
  
  What could be improved: Our patio was small but with our own sunbeds.It had roof over it, yet every morning the floor was wet due to water sprinklers and due to cleaning the restaurant floor upstairs. One morning we were soaked having breakfast.
  Also our daughter slipped a couple of times on the stone floor and hit her head as the floor was so wet.
  This needs to be fixed as it's really dangerous!
  Also, the grass just outside our apartment looked inviting on the pictures, but it was too wet and muddy to play on unfortunately. Also, I believe the pictures of the outside area are not accurate – they're from the building next door with the seaview apartments.
  The beds are soft and comfortable, but on wheels! So whenever we were leaning back the bed moved. Very strange.

  Sea view. Hotel location if you were in the main hotel easy access to the beach. Great boat trip and easy car hire.
  
  What could be improved: we needed a late check out due to a very late flight, the hotel was not fully booked yet the reception staff lied and said the hotel was full – The facilities for having a shower etc once checked out are awful it is basically a pool shower, you could only dry your hair if you had your own hairdryer and there was no where dry to put your clean clothes, that is when I booked a room at the hotel using booking.com. Hotel customer relations did get involved and got us a room in the main hotel no refund but they did offer us a free meal for two.

  Very spacious family room with huge balcony, kitchen, 2 separate bedrooms, was cleaned and towels were changed every day. Amazing and very tasty food for breakfast and dinner, great variety of food choises on dinner, always some national greek dishes. You can always find free sunbeds near the pool. Amazing aquagym each day with cool dances and music. Sea beach just near the hotel.
  
  What could be improved: All drinks during the dinner (even water) and sunbeds near the sea for extra charge. Poor wi-fi in the room, but better in the lobby. Old-fashioned hairdryer.

  Very nice location directly at the beach, nice staff, entertainment programs (sport: yoga, stretching, Zumba, fitness on the beach, aqua gym; in the evening: dance or acrobatics shows, bingo, karaoke etc).
  The food was also very good (all you can eat buffet).
  We booked a double room but we got a gratis upgrade (double room+ children's room + kitchen) because it was available
  
  What could be improved: The photo on booking.com doesn't correspond to the reality (it is a mistake: in the room with garden view it was the photos of a room with sea view).
  Everything was wonderful, if i really have to say something negative maybe I can just say that the furniture in the room was very simple and not that modern like the rest of the hotel and the key card to enter the room doesn't work very well

  The stuff was very kindly and helpful, their costumer service was excelent- we had some problem with the hotel dinner and they solved it in no time. The beds are very comfortable- even the sofa beds! The beach is very close, there is car rental at the hotel which is super cofortable.

  Very clean well equipped room albeit a bit dated … loved the infinity pool although had to get down there for 8am to reserve beds … all staff friendly and helpful … proper quality place … excellent choice at breakfast … highly recommend in our opinion !!! We paid for a sea view and it was worth it … love this place !!! 👍🏻😎😉
  
  What could be improved: Bit dated in places … didn’t appear to be air-con in reception … got note on car for parking Rodos car in car park as they push Sun Car hire … thought that was a bit off … it is what it is … overall cracking place and plenty of good shops and eateries nearby !!! 😎
