Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rhodes Town, and St. George Studios honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked right on Apollonion Street – and if you know the area, you’ll appreciate that this puts you literally a stone’s throw from the medieval Old Town walls without being right in the thick of the tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to Symi Square in about three minutes, but you’re not dealing with the street performers and crowds until 10am.

The studios themselves are what got me. They’re not trying to be some fancy resort – they’re just really well-thought-out spaces that actually work for travelers. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), and honestly, after buying fresh tomatoes and feta from the little market on Orfeos Street, cooking breakfast on the balcony became my favorite part of the morning routine. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and here’s something you don’t always get – the wifi actually works consistently throughout the building. I was working remotely for part of my stay, and never had issues even during the evening rush when everyone’s streaming.

What really sold me on this place though was the staff’s approach. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no lengthy presentations about amenities I’ll never use. They just gave me practical info about parking (there’s a decent public lot about two blocks away on Amarantou Street) and pointed out which nearby tavernas stay open late if I got hungry. The cleaning was thorough without being intrusive, and they actually remembered my name after the second day, which sounds small but makes a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a quick weekend.

The location thing is worth explaining properly because “Rhodes Town” can mean a lot of different things. You’re in the newer part, but it’s the good newer part – tree-lined streets, actual locals going about their business, real bakeries alongside the tourist spots. The beach at Elli is about a 12-minute walk, which means you can easily do a morning swim without planning your whole day around it. And if you’re into the historical stuff, you’re close enough to pop into the Palace of the Grand Master whenever you want, but far enough away that you’re not hearing tour groups at 7am.

I stayed during shoulder season in late September, so I can’t speak to how it handles the full summer crowds, but the building’s setup suggests it would stay relatively peaceful – thick walls, good sound insulation, and the studios face different directions so there’s not one single noise bottleneck. The 9.1 rating makes total sense to me. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does – comfortable, practical accommodation in a smart location with genuinely helpful service – it does really well. You know what clinched it for me? I extended my stay by two nights, and that’s something I almost never do.

  Our room was large and very well equipped with a sitting area and lovely bathroom. We could also use the courtyard. Although a busy area inside the old town, the studio was down a very quiet street. Our hosts were so helpful and allowed us to leave luggage in a locked area until our ferry left late in the day we checked out.

  Really lovely property right in the middle of spectacular Old Town Rhodes. It is central and a short walk to all the sights but quiet and secluded. We had the roof terrace with views of the Grand Masters Palace.

  Great location right at the top of the old town. Litterally at the St George Town gate. You can even see the town walls from the apartments which are just metres away. A few steps and you’re deposited into the hub bub of the vibrant old town. The apt is clean and uncluttered with a super comfy bed

  Great location and the apartment was clean and well equipped. We loved our time on the terrace and appreciated having the large umbrella to protect us from the midday sun. It was very quiet at night in spite of being within the walls of the old town.
