You know what struck me first about the Sheraton Rhodes Resort? It’s that moment when you walk into the lobby and realize you can actually hear the sea – not just see it through some distant window, but really hear those waves rolling in from Ixia Bay. The place sits right on Ialyssos Avenue, which honestly sounds busier than it actually is once you’re settled in.

I mean, sure, it’s a five-star property so you’d expect the polished marble and pristine pools, but what really got me was how they’ve managed to feel both upscale and genuinely Greek at the same time. The staff – and I’m talking about everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping team – they actually know the island. Ask them about the best time to visit Filerimos Hill (early morning, by the way, before the tour buses arrive) and you’ll get real advice, not just a brochure recommendation. The resort’s positioned perfectly for exploring Rhodes’ west coast – you’re literally a fifteen-minute drive from the medieval Old Town, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds every single day.

The beach access is what sold me, though. It’s this nice stretch of organized beach where you can actually swim without dodging jet skis every five minutes – something that’s honestly harder to find than you’d think around here. The water’s that particular shade of Aegean blue that looks almost fake in photos, and the hotel’s beach service keeps things comfortable without being pushy about it. Pool-wise, there are several to choose from, including this infinity setup that’s pretty spectacular at sunset, though it does get crowded during peak season (July and August, obviously). What I appreciated was the variety – some areas are clearly designed for families with kids splashing around, while other spots stay relatively quiet even when the resort’s full. The rooms themselves are spacious and well-maintained, with those floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open, which is surprisingly rare in newer hotels. Air conditioning works perfectly, which you’ll definitely need during summer months, and the balconies – well, if you can swing a sea view room, do it. The extra cost is worth it for those morning coffee moments.

Dining here feels less like typical hotel food and more like they’re actually trying to showcase local ingredients. The breakfast spread includes proper Greek yogurt and local honey, not just the usual international buffet stuff, and their taverna-style restaurant serves some of the better moussaka I’ve had on the island. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not quite at that ultra-luxury level where everything’s flawless, but it’s solid, comfortable, and the location really can’t be beat if you want to explore both Rhodes’ historical sites and its beaches without constantly moving around. Plus, parking is actually included, which saves you the headache of dealing with Old Town’s narrow streets every time you want to venture out.

  Breakfast was really good, with possibility to eat outside in the pool area. Selection of fresh fuits, standard english breakfast, sweets table, assorted pastry.
  
  What could be improved: Fitness is really outdated, whirpool and sauna looks like from 80'. Also gym is equipped just with random machines without any logic, but standard equipment – long bars, bench, weights – is missing (seriously, who would use leg curls AND leg extension while there is no bar for squats).

  Loved the proximity to the beach. Enjoyed all the facilities.
  
  What could be improved: The live entertainment. I felt it cheapened the hotel experience; it made it feel like a package holiday rather than an upmarket hotel experience.
  
  My room was very near the main area for entertainment, and I was kept awake until 11 pm many nights.
  
  I am a keen gym goer and found the gym excellent, although I would have loved to see a barbell set and a rowing machine. One of the main machines for weights was broken, be great if they could fix these things.

  What could be improved: The choice of salad wasn’t too great. And no spread of soft cheese variety. But other than that was good. Internet wasn’t working at times very smoothly. But not too bad.

  We particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the main restaurant, which offered a wide selection of fresh and delicious options. The room was spacious and clean, equipped with basic amenities. The multiple swimming pools were a highlight, and our kids loved them. The sunset views from the 6th floor and the clean beach are also worth mentioning.
  
  What could be improved: If you order something at the pool area, be prepared for potential delays of up to an hour, assuming your order isn't forgotten altogether. Additionally, the hotel would benefit from having its own shuttle service.

  The hotel was ideal for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers, hotel staff and support team were excellent and made us feel very welcome, I can't wait to stay there the next time we visit Rhodes.

  The pools are awesome with lots of sun-beds and the staff are super helpful and pleasant.
  The room was spacious and the staff graciously allowed us a later check out due to our late flight. Free car parking was a bonus as it’s important to hire a car when visiting Rhodes. The location was good with some dining options nearby but mostly required a car to drive for these.
  
  What could be improved: The room is a little tired. The furniture is quite dated. For the price point we were expecting something with a little more luxury. The meds and pillows were comfortable though.
