When I first pulled up to Serenity Sea-View Home, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t sure what to expect from a place without an official star rating. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come without fancy classifications. This family-run property sits right on Afandou Beach, and the moment you step out of your car (which you can park right on-site for free, by the way), you’re hit with that unmistakable Mediterranean breeze carrying the scent of salt and wild herbs from the hillside.

Location & Setting

The location here is actually phenomenal — I mean, you’re literally steps from one of Rhodes’ longest and most unspoiled beaches. Afandou isn’t one of those touristy strips packed with sunbed vendors every five meters. Instead, you get this gorgeous stretch of pebbles and sand where locals still come to swim and families spread out picnic blankets without fighting for space. The Mesa Vastaos area feels authentically Greek, with traditional tavernas scattered around and that relaxed pace you came to the islands to find. It’s about a 20-minute drive to Rhodes Town if you want to explore the medieval city, but honestly, you might find yourself perfectly content staying put.

The Accommodation

The rooms — well, they’re more like self-contained apartments really — have that clean, unfussy Greek island aesthetic that just works. White walls, blue accents, and those sea views that the name promises are absolutely real. I spent way too much time on the balcony with my morning coffee, watching fishing boats head out while the sun painted everything golden. The kitchenette is properly equipped too, which matters when you want to grab fresh tomatoes and feta from the local market and make a simple lunch. Air conditioning works perfectly (crucial in summer), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a place that keeps things simple.

The Experience

What struck me most was how the owners — a lovely Greek family — seem to genuinely care about making sure you have what you need without hovering. They’ll point you toward the best bakery in the village or tell you which taverna makes the freshest fish, but they’re not constantly checking if you need towels or trying to sell you excursions. The whole vibe is refreshingly low-key. Mornings start with that incredible view, you can walk to the beach in under two minutes, and evenings often end with a glass of local wine watching the sunset paint the Aegean in impossible shades of orange and pink.

Why Guests Love It

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something undeniably romantic about having the sea practically at your doorstep without the crowds and noise of the big resort areas. The 9.8 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the combination of that prime beachfront location, genuine Greek hospitality, and the kind of peaceful setting that actually lets you unwind. It’s not about fancy amenities or marble lobbies; it’s about waking up to the sound of waves and feeling like you’ve found your own little corner of the Greek islands.   Manos è una persona eccezionale. Durante il nostro soggiorno non ci ha fatto mancare niente. La casa era stupenda e studiata in ogni particolare. La posizione poi era perfetta per girare tutta l'isola in quanto equidistante da rodi e da lindos. Credo sia raro incontrare persone così buone e gentili. Non posso che consigliarlo a tutti.

  En unik ferie opplevelse der man bor midt blant oliven trær ,fugle kvitter og sangsikader. Ingen trafikk. Leiligheten var godt utstyrt og moderne. Absolutt veldig fornøyd med gjestfriheten. Kommunikasjonen gjennom Booking.com gikk veldig bra. En veldig hyggelig kar ved navn Stavros, som forøvrig er sønnen til husverten ,sørget for at vi fikk den informasjonen vi trengte . Var det noen praktiske problemer, fikk faren som også bor i villaen med sin kone, straks beskjed fra sønnen. Fantastisk koselig man som gjorde alt for at vi skulle trives. Sier ikke mer om det😊
  Bil er et must. Kort vei til alle de kjente strendene og omlag 25 km til rhodes by.
  Google maps fungerte veldig bra.
