Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Savvas Apartment on Panormiti Ramou – the street name alone had me stumbling over pronunciation. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you, and this little gem in Afantou absolutely delivered.

The thing about Afantou is that it’s not trying to be flashy like some of the busier spots on Rhodes. It’s got this laid-back, authentic Greek vibe that I actually prefer – you can hear the cicadas in the evening instead of constant tourist chatter, and there’s this wonderful smell of wild herbs that drifts in from the hillsides. Savvas really gets this. The apartment itself feels like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. The owners (I’m pretty sure Savvas himself was around during my stay) clearly put thought into the little things that matter – proper coffee-making equipment, not those awful instant packets, and actual blackout curtains that work. The WiFi was solid too, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in some Greek accommodations.

What really won me over was the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re close enough to Afantou Beach that you can bike there in maybe ten minutes – and I mean the good part of the beach where locals go, not just the crowded strip near the main road. There’s this fantastic taverna called Manolis (well, there are about five tavernas called Manolis in every Greek village, but you’ll know the right one) where they do this incredible grilled octopus that’s worth the trip alone. The apartment’s also perfectly positioned if you want to explore the interior of the island – those mountain villages like Archipoli that most tourists never see. Parking was never an issue, which… if you’ve tried finding a spot in Rhodes Town during summer, you’ll appreciate that more than you know. The 9.7 rating makes total sense to me because it’s clear someone actually cares about this place. It’s not fancy in that Instagram-perfect way, but it’s thoughtful and comfortable and real. You’ll sleep well here – the beds are proper firm (thank god), and the neighborhood gets genuinely quiet after about 10 PM when the local kids finish their evening football games in the street.

  Very spacious and clean apartment with an air conditioning unit in both the bedroom and living room/ kitchen area.
  
  Ideal for a stay with your partner or a small family.
  
  Comes with plenty of amenities, and higher end kitchen appliances. Even has a washing machine and a big dry rack outside the apartment.
  
  Felt very safe and comfortable, great location and very well soundproofed windows/ doors. Peaceful and serene.
  
  We went to eat at Katholiki, which is a 5 minutes drive and the ideal way to be introduced to the Greek/Rhodian kitchen!
  
  English speaking host, who made sure to give us a warm welcome and a warm goodbye.

  Super helpful owner, nice welcome surprise and beautiful apartment, away from the tourist traffic, but only 2 minutes from the main road. The location is absolutely ideal for travelers. 25 minutes to Lindos, 10 to Faliraki, about 35 minutes to the port of Rhodes. The ratio of price and quality of accommodation was absolutely unbeatable! The pool is beautiful, but we didn't have time to use it because we went on a trip every morning and came back after dark. Private parking places exactly under the house.
  
  What could be improved: Parking is more suitable for small cars and more experienced drivers. But around you can find some place for big car too.

  Most of the time there was no one as the pool was just for you. The location is close to both Lindos and Rhodes. Quiet and peaceful location. There is parking.

  Ruhig (bis auf Nachbars Hühner). Sauber. Gut ausgestattet. Bei Anreise waren eine Flasche Wein, Wasser und Kekse zur Begrüßung da.
  
  What could be improved: Wir hatten einen längeren Kombi. Das Parken war damit etwas schwierig, weil die Parklücken und die Straße relativ eng sind.
