Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Rhodes Old Town, and most of them are either cramped medieval caves or touristy spots that charge you extra for everything. Sala Historical Luxury Suites is honestly different – and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s tucked on Agiou Ioanni street, which if you know the old town at all, puts you right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the main drag that you won’t hear drunk British tourists singing at 2 AM.

The building itself is this beautiful restored Ottoman-era house, and they’ve actually done the renovation right – you know how some places just slap modern stuff into old walls and call it historic? Not here. The suites have these incredible high ceilings with original wooden beams, and the stone walls are thick enough that you’ll sleep like a baby even during the summer festivals. I stayed in one of the larger suites (splurged a bit, honestly) and the bathroom alone was bigger than most hotel rooms I’ve been in. The shower had this rainfall head that actually worked properly – small thing, but you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case. What really got me though was the attention to detail: hand-selected antiques mixed with modern comforts, proper blackout curtains, and a little kitchenette that’s actually functional if you want to grab some local cheese and wine from the market nearby.

The location is just perfect for exploring – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Palace of the Grand Masters, but more importantly, you’re right around the corner from some of the best local tavernas that most tourists never find. There’s this little place called Mama Sofia’s just down the street where the locals go, and the hotel staff (who are genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions) will point you toward spots like that. Parking can be tricky in the old town generally, but they’ve got arrangements with a secure lot just outside the walls, and they’ll actually help you navigate getting there – trust me, you’ll need it if you’re driving. The whole experience feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a hotel, which I guess explains that 9.7 rating. It’s not cheap, but honestly? For what you get and where you are, it’s worth every euro. Just book early if you’re coming in summer – places like this don’t stay secret for long.

  Amazing place. The atmosphere there is amazing. Very clean, with everything you need for the perfect vacation. The suites are very uniquie each of them. We had 5 reserved. They are all big, clean and very comfortable. Sebastian, the host is very helpful. We will definitelly choose this place again
