Hotel Description

You know what really struck me about Saint Artemios when I first walked up to it on Ergeiou Street? It’s tucked away in this perfect spot where you’re literally steps from the medieval Old Town chaos, but somehow it feels like you’ve found this quiet secret. I mean, you’re still in Rhodes Town proper – you can actually hear the evening bustle from Sokratous Street drifting over – but there’s something about the way this boutique place sits that just feels removed from all that tourist madness.

The whole vibe here is honestly what I wish more four-star places would aim for. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, they’ve clearly decided to do fewer things really well. The rooms have this modern Mediterranean thing going on that doesn’t feel forced – you know how sometimes hotels try too hard with the “local flavor” and it ends up looking like a theme restaurant? Not here. The stone and whitewash actually work together, and I loved that they kept some of the original architectural details without making a big show of it. What really got me though was the attention to small stuff – proper blackout curtains (trust me, you’ll appreciate this when the Greek sun comes up at 5:30), really good water pressure, and they actually have decent wifi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes.

Here’s the thing about the location that you won’t really get until you’re there – Ergeiou Street is one of those little roads that locals use as a shortcut, so you’ll see actual Rhodians walking by with their groceries and kids, not just tour groups. It’s maybe a three-minute walk to get into the thick of the Old Town’s restaurant scene, but when you want to escape back to the hotel, you’re not fighting through crowds of people taking selfies. The staff seemed to really know their stuff too – not just the usual “there’s a good taverna around the corner” advice, but actual specifics about which places get too touristy after 8pm and where to find the best souvlaki that isn’t right on the main drag. Oh, and parking – if you’re driving, there’s usually street parking nearby, though you’ll want to ask them about the best spots since some of these medieval streets can get… interesting to navigate.

The whole experience just felt balanced, I guess? Like, you’re getting that boutique hotel treatment with the 9.3 rating to back it up, but without the pretentiousness that sometimes comes with that territory. It’s the kind of place where you can roll in after a day of exploring the Palace of the Grand Master covered in dust and sweat, and nobody’s going to give you looks in the lobby. Perfect for Rhodes, honestly.

    Peaceful retreat in busy Rhodes

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Yoav from Israel – 26 May 2025 (8/10)

The backyard is magical. The location is very close to the main part of the old city but extremely quiet and peaceful.
The host was welcoming and warm.

What could be improved: The WiFi & cellular reception for us was extremely slow.
The breakfast service is slow, so come early.
The bed was a bit stiff for our taste and the wall a bit thin.

  • David from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (10/10)

In the middle of the old medieval town

  • Emma from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

The hotel is beautiful, tucked away just back from the centre of Rhodes old town. Once you step into the cobbled courtyard it feels like a little oasis with trees, plants, chairs, benches and sun loungers for guests to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The room was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated, with a comfy bed, lovely toiletries in the bathroom and a great shower. The staff are lovely, welcoming and super friendly, the breakfast (served in the courtyard) was delicious. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others

There are a number of these old converted properties, at different standards, in the Old Town. You have your room that opens into a private courtyard where the big breakfast is served. The room was functional, could do with furniture being updated, room is not huge because the property is original but it served its purpose. The hostess and team were delightful and very helpful. Despite the Old Town being absolutely full with tourists and tourist tat, the property was quiet. It's surrounded by narrow cobbled streets and the town retains much of it's charm of 700 years ago, but such a shame it has been ruined by endless tourist shops and restaurants. The new town and harbour are walkable. We escaped by going on boat trips and hired a private car with driver to tour the much quieter south west of the island for a day, which is definitely to be recommended, especially if you enjoy the history, because here you'll be able to explore almost unhindered.

  • Kfir from United States – 23 September 2024 (10/10)

The location in the old city is excellent, close to many shops, restaurants, and museums. The ancient buildings are impressive. The owner and the staff are pleasant. The house has everything you need. Daily cleaning is provided, with bed linens and towels changed regularly. There’s a kettle in the room for coffee. It’s nice to sit on the terrace and enjoy the blooming and delightful garden (the rich and tasty breakfast is served there). Everything is pleasant and aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommended!

What could be improved: The only problem is that the property located in the middle of the ancient city and taxis have no access to the area. However, the property provides mini golf that picks you up from the closest gate upon arrival

  • James from United Kingdom – 19 September 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful setting. Staff were very helpful. Very centrally positioned for the old town. Restaurants are all within a 2 minute walk. The courtyard was beautiful and relaxing. We had an amazing stay.
The fact cars aren't allowed into the old town makes it. (Be mindful of this when packing 😊. 9 min walk to the hotel)

  • Mustafa from Turkey – 10 September 2024 (10/10)

    location, cleanliness and friendly staff

What could be improved: wifi reception (not the speed) could be better, but other than that all very good.

  • Mtaharslan from Turkey – 22 August 2024 (10/10)

Everything was perfect during our stay at the hotel. Especially Maria helped us a lot and was very helpful. I would like to thank her especially. The breakfasts prepared by Maria were excellent. Every product in the breakfast was fresh. Our room was cleaned every day and they were very kind. I would definitely stay here if I come back again. I would especially like to thank Maria and the whole team who worked and served. It is definitely a place I can recommend for those who want to stay in the old town and it is easy to reach everywhere.

What could be improved: Everything was great. There was nothing negative.

  • Ekaterina from Switzerland – 20 August 2024 (9/10)

Maria (staff) is very friendly and caring. We liked her a lot and felt very welcome because of her. At first we had a room on the ground floor, which we didn't like because of the upstairs noise, but Maria and Nikos allowed us to change for a better room on the 2nd floor, which was wonderful. Thank you for that attitude, it's very much appreciated.

The hotel is lovely, it has its own garden with an old chapel. The location is very central in the middle of the old town. Breakfast is good and fresh.

What could be improved: Room No 1 does not have good soundproofing. Also, as a recommendation, better soaps, shampoo etc would make a better image of the place. Also it would be nice to have a guest/staff toilet in the hotel.
