Hotel Description
You know those places where you walk in and immediately think “okay, this is exactly what I was hoping Rhodes would feel like”? That’s S.Nikolis’ Historic Boutique Hotel. I mean, the location alone – right on Hippodamou Street in the old town – puts you smack in the middle of everything without being on one of those tourist-trap streets where you can’t sleep past 7am because of the tour groups.
The building itself has this weathered stone thing going on that actually feels authentic, not like someone slapped “historic” in the name and called it a day. Walking through those narrow cobblestone alleys to get there, you’re literally surrounded by medieval walls and then boom – there’s this perfectly restored Ottoman-era house that someone clearly spent serious money renovating properly. The rooms have these thick stone walls that keep things cool during those brutal July afternoons, and honestly, the AC barely runs because the architecture just works. What really got me was the attention to small stuff – like how they preserved original archways and wooden beams, but then added modern bathrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts shoved into medieval spaces.
The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a day or two. It’s not just the Instagram-worthy courtyard (though yeah, that’s pretty great for morning coffee), it’s how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. They’ll tell you which tavernas locals go to versus the tourist spots, or mention that the best time to walk the Palace of the Grand Master is right when it opens before the cruise ship crowds hit. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to Sokratous Street if you want the full tourist experience, but tucked away enough that you feel like you discovered something. Parking is… well, it’s the old town, so forget about driving anywhere nearby, but honestly that’s part of the charm. You end up walking everywhere, which is exactly how Rhodes old town should be experienced anyway. The only tiny downside is that some rooms face the alley, so you’ll hear people walking by until pretty late – but that’s medieval city life for you, and the stone walls muffle most of it. I’d definitely go back, especially in shoulder season when you can actually move around the old town without fighting crowds at every corner.

The location is fabulous and rooms are full of character, just inside the old town but in a quiet position. You can walk to everything. Staff were very accomodating and friendly and breakfasts were amazing. I would recommend 100%

Perfectly quiet little hotel in an old town that can get pretty noisy. A/C worked great, staff was very helpful and kind, room was spotless.

Loved everything about this gorgeous, beautifully restored hotel. The staff were incredible – friendly, helpful. I honestly felt they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. My room was simply delightful. A great stay in the old town. I was sad to leave.

This a beautiful and wonderful historic hotel in the old town of Rhodes. The hotel is a short distance from the busy shops and restaurants so it’s nice and quiet. The room was large and comfortable with a great full size bathroom and shower.
The hotel provides a delicious breakfast with many options you get to choose from the menu. The scrambled eggs and bacon, French toast and pancakes were exceptional. The service was fast and the young lady serving (I’m sorry I forgot your name at the time I am writing this review) was soo nice. Some of the best service we had on the island!
The hotel was so cool with all its history and location but it’s the people working there that make it a truly amazing stay.Maranella and Micheal were the best hosts. Their hospitality and recommendations were impeccable!!
My wife was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in March of this year and is not able to walk more than 50 feet. It was a bucket list vacation so we didn’t cancel.
Maranella and Michael worked with us and got us transportation to see and do everything we wanted. Michael at night found time to drive us and pick us up at the incredible restaurant restaurants he recommended. These two were wonderful in helping us make the time in Rhodes more than anything we had hoped for. Thank you very much Micheal and Marnella.
What could be improved: Nothing. Absolutely nothing!!
