Sometimes the places with quirky names end up surprising you the most. This little 4-star gem sits right in the heart of Rhodes Town, and I mean literally in the thick of things – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the medieval walls and all that tourist madness, but somehow Ierokleous 43 feels like you’ve found this quiet pocket that most people just walk past.

The whole vibe here is exactly what you’d hope for when you hear “rustic” – think exposed stone walls that actually look authentic (not that fake weathered stuff some hotels try to pull off), wooden beams that creak just enough to remind you you’re in an old building, and this sort of lived-in comfort that makes you want to kick off your sandals immediately. The self-service aspect works better than you’d think, actually. There’s something refreshing about not having someone hovering around asking if you need anything every five minutes. Plus, the check-in process was surprisingly smooth – they’ve got it figured out without making it feel impersonal. I stayed here during shoulder season in early October, and honestly, it felt like having your own little apartment in the old town without the hassle of actually renting one.

What really sold me on this place was the morning routine – you can grab coffee and actually hear the locals starting their day instead of just tour groups shuffling around. The soundproofing is decent too, which matters when you’re this close to the main action. I mean, you’ll still catch some nighttime chatter from people heading back from dinner, but it’s more charming than annoying. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two here. It’s not trying to be some fancy resort with marble everything – it’s just genuinely comfortable and well-thought-out. The rooms have this cozy, almost homey feel, and the little details (good water pressure, actually cold air conditioning, decent WiFi) show they care about the stuff that actually matters to travelers. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just another hotel room, and you don’t need someone to carry your bags or fold your towels into swans, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  I was given us detailed instruction about how to get in so we had no problem. The house was beautifully restored. we had everything we needed. it was in the old city which we loved and conveniently located so we reached home easily by walking every night. But it is also very near to the old city walls so you can walk out to the newer part if you want..

  Stayed at The Rustic Self Inn located within the charming Old Town of Rhode. Despite its age, the structure was a delightful mix of comfort and nostalgia. With three rooms, a cozy living room, and a kitchen, it was spacious enough for a group. The small patio added a quaint touch, perfect for morning coffees or evening chats.
  
  The location within Old Town was incredibly convenient, making it easy to explore the surroundings and immerse ourselves in the local culture
  
  One of the standout features was the bedding; the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep, and the air conditioning was a relief during the warmer days.
  
  Our host was thoughtful enough to meet us on the day we departed, adding a personal touch to our stay. It's always lovely when hosts take the time to connect with their guests.
  
  In conclusion, The Rustic Self Inn offers a blend of tradition and comfort, making it a worthy choice for travelers looking to experience the essence of Old Town. Would recommend, but with a note about the shower.
  
  What could be improved: However, a minor hiccup was the shower, which had a slow water flow. I believe an upgrade in that would elevate the overall experience.

  It’s a beautiful property conveniently located within the old city and not far from the beach.
  
  What could be improved: Very comfortable for family travel. The owner ensured that we had everything to get comfortable upon check in, even a complimentary bottle of wine. Very accommodating and helpful.

  This place was an absolute gem. We had the most marvellous time in this hidden treasure in the heart of the old town. The place was much more spacious than we anticipated and beautifully appointed.

  Situated in old town, very close to restaurants & bar but in a quiet street. loved the courtyard to chill in.

  The location was fantastic! We walked from our taxi into the walled city when we first got there, not knowing exactly where to go. As soon as we got into the city area, the owner was waiting for us and the apartment was right there at easy reach.
  We could not get a better location with it also being close to all the attractions.
  The owner Nikitas was very good and professional and explained everything very well.
  The actual accommodation was very in character of Rhodes Old Town and was very characterful!
  At the end of our stay, we were able to leave our luggage at the restaurant around the corner, until it was time for us to leave.
  
  What could be improved: There was no oven, so cooking food was limited.
  The archway into the kitchen and doorway into the garden was very low and my husband who is bald, kept banging his head. Although my son who is taller did not, so it all depends on whether you are able to remember to bend down!
  Heightening these low entrances would only take away the character of the accommodation though.

  This house is beautiful and in a super convenient area. Even though it is very close to the old town gate, and a busy street, it was quiet at night. The house is spacious and exudes old warm charm with all the modern conveniences you might need. The owner was extraordinarily kind and set up a taxi transfer for us to and from the airport. He is very responsive and helpful. The air conditioning worked great as did the washing machine. It was a lovely experience.
  
  Not a complaint but do be aware this is a historic house, beautifully updated, but with some historic quirks. The doorways are low and the upstairs wooden floors creak a bit. There is not a ton of natural light. We found the experience of staying in the old town to be well worth the minor inconvenience of ducking our heads. You will not regret staying here.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing. It was wonderful. Thank you for everything.

  Easy check-in and really pretty apartment. The air-conditioning was very effective. A lot of space in the rooms and the backyard was so amazing.
  
  What could be improved: Little dirty but nothing major. Dishes had to be done before using since they were left sticky. Even tho it is for six people, only four were able to eat at the tables.
