I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Rustic House Archangelos on that narrow stretch near Σαρικά Αναστάση, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name had me picturing something overly quaint, you know? But honestly, this place gets the balance just right between that authentic Greek island charm and actually being comfortable enough that you’re not roughing it.

The thing about Archangelos is that it’s sort of perfectly positioned – you’re far enough from the Rhodes Town crowds that you can actually hear yourself think, but close enough to the coast that you can smell that salty breeze drifting in through the windows. And speaking of windows, they actually open here (I know, revolutionary concept), which means you can skip the AC during those perfect spring and fall evenings. The rooms have this lived-in warmth to them – not rustic in that “we haven’t updated anything since 1985” way, but more like staying at a well-kept family home where everything just works. The beds are legitimately comfortable, which… well, you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in smaller Greek hotels.

What really sold me on the place was the little details that someone clearly thought through. The parking situation is actually manageable, which anyone who’s driven around these villages will appreciate. The shower has proper water pressure – again, not always a given. And the staff genuinely seems to know the area, not just the tourist handbook version of it. When I asked about hiking trails, they pointed me toward this lesser-known path that connects to the old monastery ruins (definitely worth the twenty-minute walk if you’re into that sort of thing). The morning coffee situation is solid too, though if you’re particular about your caffeine, there’s a great little kafeneio about five minutes down the road where the locals actually hang out.

I mean, a 9.8 rating sounds almost too good to be true, but after staying there, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island – it’s just doing everything well without any of the pretense. The whole area gets this gorgeous golden light in the late afternoon that makes even the most basic Instagram shots look decent. During peak summer it probably gets busier, but in shoulder season you’ll have those quiet moments on the terrace where you can actually relax and remember why you came to Greece in the first place. If you’re looking for a base to explore this part of Rhodes without dealing with resort crowds or tourist trap pricing, this is honestly one of the better options I’ve found.

  Beautifully restored traditional house. The owners are so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for me. This was my first solo trip and I had a wonderful time. The outside area is amazing and I spent every evening relaxing and watching the sun sets.
  Every detail of the property has been carefully considered and lovingly restored. I would thoroughly recommend staying here 🙂

  Cannot recommend Dimitra's place enough!
  
  Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with so many thoughtful touches (from ice creams in the freezer to beach umbrella and all the cooking equipment you might need). The roof terrace is also lovely for breakfast or for evening sunsets. AC also kept us cool during 40 degree temps.
  
  Great location, 5 minutes drive to Stegna beach and a few minutes walk from some great local restaurants (but silent at night).
  
  Dimitra was also incredibly lovely and helpful – her friend even met us to show us the best route to take up the narrow roads.
  
  One of the nicest places we've stayed across years of travelling through Greece!

  The house is absolutely beautiful and well furnished.
  The terrace is just the cherry on top.
  The host is simply wonderful, she left all sort of food for us, she was extremely kind and super quick in all communication.
  The location is perfect if you have a car and intend to tour the island a bit.
  
  What could be improved: Some miscommunication at the start meant that we didn't know where everything was (towels, hot water) But this was fixed later, thanks to excellent communication with the host

  The special traditional style house is sophisticated and richly furnished. The roof terrace is very pleasant with a beautiful view. Central location, close to shops and restaurants, the beaches can be reached by car in a few minutes. The host is extremely kind, the moussaka was very delicious :).

  The Rustic house is a traditional house in the narrow streets of Archangelos. Tradition and modernism are the element of decoration. It is all new and fully equipped. It is in a quiet area without car noise but at the same time you are in the center in 3 minutes. There is a roof garden to enjoy your coffee or your food with view the big church of the village and the Acropolis. The hostess Dimitra greeted us with a polite smile and provided us with hot food upon our arrival. I definitely highly recommend it!

  We loved the host Dimitra! She is probably one of the friendliest hosts I have met. Always at disposal, she was very eager and quick to help out whenever needed (easily reachable via WhatsApp).
  
  Dimitra embodies the authentic Greek hospitality that is seldom seen anywhere but in Greece.
  
  The facility is clean, nicely decorated and offers an authentic stay (it is the host's grandma's house – entirely renovated) in the heart of Rhodes. Because of its central location, it is easy to navigate both to Lindos and Rhodes Town (with car).
  
  At night, Dimitra's house offers a rooftop where you can enjoy a drink and admire a view over the town of Archangelos, its acropolis and a beautiful nearby church.
  
  All in all, its is a recommended place!
  
  What could be improved: The narrow streets of the more traditional part of Archangelos are quite narrow which makes parking your rental car non-recommended.
  
  Dimitra offers a parking spot a 5 min walk away from the house.
