Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Rhodes Old Town, and honestly? Most of them feel like you’re sleeping in a museum – gorgeous, sure, but you’re constantly worried about knocking over something that’s been there since the Crusades. Rita’s Modern In-City House is different though. It’s tucked away on Agiou Ioannis street, which – and this is key – puts you literally two minutes from all the medieval magic, but you’re not actually inside those thick stone walls where WiFi goes to die and air conditioning is more of a gentle suggestion.

The whole vibe here is what I’d call “grown-up modern” if that makes sense. Clean lines, really comfortable beds (I mean, properly comfortable – not just hotel-speak comfortable), and everything actually works the way it should. The rooms have this nice mix of contemporary stuff with just enough Greek character that you don’t forget where you are. What really got me was the attention to details you don’t expect – like, the shower pressure is fantastic, which anyone who’s traveled around the Greek islands will tell you is basically a miracle. And the air conditioning? Silent. You know how some places have units that sound like a freight train? Not here. Rita clearly knows what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos.

Here’s what I love about the location – you can walk to Mandraki Harbor in about five minutes, which means you’re right there for all the boat trips to Lindos or Symi, but you’re also close enough to duck into the Old Town whenever you want without dealing with the cruise ship crowds that pile up near the main gates. The street itself is pretty quiet, especially at night, though you’ll hear a bit of life from the nearby tavernas – but it’s the good kind of sounds, you know? People enjoying themselves, not chaos. Parking can be tricky around here like anywhere in Rhodes Town, but Rita’s got that sorted too. I honestly can’t figure out how this place maintains a 9.7 rating – I mean, I can, because it’s genuinely that good, but usually somewhere this well-located and well-run would be either impossible to book or cost twice as much. Maybe it’s because it doesn’t have a pool or beachfront, but honestly, when you’re this close to everything and the Elli Beach is a ten-minute walk anyway, who cares? This is the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay, and I actually did – bumped my three nights to five because I just didn’t want to deal with the hassle of moving somewhere else that probably wouldn’t be as good.

  Excellent house with a 15-20 min walk of the old city. 25 min walk to the beach area.

  the property was clean, well equipped, modern, comfy, light and it really stood out that the hosts tried to make it feel like ‘coming home’. when we arrived the fridge was full the typical Greek food. And all the small things you normally have to buy if you rent an apartment were there: like soap, washing powder, toilet paper etc.!

  The house was very clean, modern and had all the facilities one could wish for. It has a great garden to sit after a day at the beach. The host was very helpfull, good to communicate with via the site and whatsapp. When we arrived the fridge was already filled with some essentials (beer, drinks, water, bread, cheese etc.), it was a warm welcome. I would definitely recommend this place!
