Okay, so RITA MARE is one of those places that actually lives up to its ridiculously high rating – and honestly, I was skeptical at first because 9.9 seems too good to be true. But here’s the thing about Gennadi that most people don’t realize: it’s this quiet little village on Rhodes’ southeast coast that somehow escaped the tourist madness of Lindos and Faliraki. The villas sit right on Alexandrou Diakou street, which is basically the main drag (though calling it a “drag” is generous – it’s more like a sleepy lane), and you’re literally steps from this gorgeous stretch of beach that feels almost private.

The heated pools are what really set this place apart, and I mean that in the most practical way possible. You know how most hotel pools in Greece are basically arctic until late May? Well, these actually stay warm enough to use, which is brilliant if you’re visiting in shoulder season when the sea’s still chilly but the crowds are gone. The seafront location isn’t just marketing speak either – you can hear the waves from your villa, and there’s this lovely pine-scented breeze that kicks up in the evenings. The villas themselves have this understated elegance that feels more like staying at a stylish friend’s place than a hotel. Nothing too fancy or trying-hard, just really well-thought-out spaces with proper kitchens (not those sad hotel kitchenettes) and terraces that actually get both morning sun and evening shade.

What I love about staying here is how it gives you this perfect base for exploring the southern part of Rhodes without dealing with the chaos of Rhodes Town or the package-holiday vibe of the northern resorts. Gennadi village has a few solid tavernas – the locals tend to gather at the one just up from the main square in the evenings – and you’re close enough to places like Prasonisi (where the windsurfers go crazy) and the monastery at Thari if you want to venture out. But honestly, the temptation is just to settle into the villa rhythm: morning swim in the heated pool, afternoon on the beach, evening on your terrace with a bottle of that crisp Assyrtiko from the local shop. The service feels genuinely Greek too – not overly fussy, but they sort of anticipate what you need before you ask. Parking’s easy (which, if you’ve ever tried to park in Lindos, you’ll appreciate), and the whole area stays blissfully quiet even in peak summer. It’s the kind of place where you arrive planning to explore every corner of the island and end up perfectly content just existing in this one beautiful spot.

  If you don´t like big hotels and you want to find a peaceful place for your holiday, this is the place. We spent an awesome 7 days with the kids. Clean house, clean beach, clean sea. The pool was great. Costas prepare some fresh fruits for the kids! There is a great taverna nearby, a supermarket, and a bakery. There is a fresh fish market a few kilometres away. If you have a car, you can travel to the sandy beaches and spend a great holiday as we did. Thank you!

  We stayed as two couples. We were welcomed very well by Margarita and Kostas. Everything in the house is new and every need has been considered. The welcome basket was a very nice gesture.

  The whole experience, accommodation, location and support from Margaret and Costas was beyond our expectations. They made it feel like home from home. Very high standards throughout and impossible not to love it. We recommend Sposa taverna on the beach, most welcoming and lovely food.

  From the moment we booked and Margaret texted me I felt like i was coming to stay with family. Her father met us at the property with a fresh cake her mother baked. The fridge and table were stocked with fruits, soft drinks and yummy sweets for the kids. All this in addition to coffe for both the espresso machine and the filter coffee maker. Dish soap, washing detergent, spices for cooking and much more I can’t remember. The place was spotless both inside and out. The ac worked amazingly and the beds were comfortable. For us the location was perfect, just next to the best fish tavern in Rhodes (thanks to Margaret’s recommendation) and the small village supermarket and amazing bakery. Truly was a home away from home for us up until the late checkout that they offered without us even needing to ask.
  
  What could be improved: That we only had three nights there as it was fully booked

  The property is exactly as the pictures. Really clean and tidy apartment. The kitchen was well equipped and you can do your own cooking here. The pool was great and the sea is just a 100 meters away. The small village is at a walking distance with some nice restaurants. You'll need a car when staying here. Hosts were really welcoming and friendly. Definitely value for money and one of the nicest places we've stayed at in Greece.
  
  What could be improved: The only improvement area is the wifi which worked best outside but not really inside. A bit of drama around this with 2 teenagers 🙂

  The villa was spacious, clean and comfortable. It is ideal for a peaceful holiday. Our hosts helped us with everything we needed before and during our stay. The accomodation was ready earlier than usual as we arrived in the morning. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and we appreciated it as we could eat and drink something before running to a shop for the first supplies. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking. The aircondition and sunblinds help to keep the house perfectly cool. We had absolutely no reason to complain.

  It was our first trip away with our 8 month old and the grandparents. It was so easy and stress free! Your own private pool makes it super relaxed! The beds were very big and comfortable as well. Clean and tidy throughout with all the amenities you’d need for a weeks stay! The host was amazing, on time for check in and check out and full of knowledge of local places…. Even transfers to lindos at last minute!

  We had a wonderful vacation in this beautiful sea front villa. The host is incredibly friendly and caring. Nothing is missing in the house, perfect equipment for a family of 5 people.   The villa was amazing – and the owners are the sweetest and most helpful! On the day of our arrival everything was closed due to Easter – so Costas has left us everything from food to drinks, so we would be all set. Can’t recommend this place enough!
