You know what struck me first about Rhodes Retreat? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet stretch of Vournia Street that most tourists completely miss – and honestly, that’s part of its charm. I mean, you’re technically in Kalithies, which sounds like the middle of nowhere until you realize you’re maybe fifteen minutes from Rhodes town and even closer to some of the island’s best beaches that aren’t crawling with cruise ship crowds.

The whole St John’s Monastery Way area has this laid-back vibe that’s hard to find once you get closer to the main tourist strips. I stayed there in late May (perfect timing, by the way – warm enough for the pool but not crazy hot yet), and the mornings were just… peaceful. You can actually hear birds instead of scooters revving up at dawn. The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing too – check-in was smooth, none of that “your room isn’t ready yet” nonsense even though I showed up pretty early. And parking? Not an issue, which if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near Rhodes Old Town, you’ll appreciate that small miracle.

What really sells this place though is how it feels like someone actually thought about the details. The rooms aren’t huge – it’s not one of those sprawling resort complexes – but everything works properly. Hot water, decent Wi-Fi, air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. The pool area gets great afternoon sun, and there’s enough space that you’re not elbow-to-elbow with other guests even when it’s busy. I spent a lot of time just hanging out there with a book, occasionally chatting with other travelers who’d discovered this little gem. There’s something to be said for staying somewhere that attracts people who do their research instead of just booking the first place that pops up online.

The location thing is actually pretty clever once you figure it out – you’re close enough to everything you want to see (the Acropolis of Lindos is totally doable as a day trip, and those thermal springs at Kalithea are practically around the corner), but you come back to this quiet neighborhood where you can actually get a good night’s sleep. I mean, I love the energy of staying right in Rhodes town, but sometimes you want to decompress without someone’s balcony party keeping you up until 3 AM. Plus, there’s this little taverna maybe a five-minute walk away that locals actually eat at – not just tourists taking Instagram photos of their moussaka.

Honestly, with a 9.2 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but places can be overhyped. This one isn’t. It’s just well-run, comfortable, and positioned perfectly for exploring Rhodes without dealing with all the chaos. If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates finding that sweet spot between convenience and tranquility – and you don’t need a massive resort with twelve restaurants to feel like you’re on vacation – Rhodes Retreat delivers exactly what it promises.

  It's a very relaxing place with a fantastic view and a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed staying by the pool or drinking wine on the balcony. The bed was very comfortable.
  Katie was an extraordinary hostess, she was very responsive and super helpful!
  The sea, Rhodes town, cafes, nice beaches are within approximately 20 minutes drive, so everything is easily accessible, but a car here is an absolute must!
  We loved Rhodes Retreat and we're planning to come back in the summer.

  We loved the pool the apartment and the host. But found it too far away from everything. . You need a car and it’s up hills. . We like to walk out in the evening for a meal and to have a drink. Was to far to do that .
  
  What could be improved: We gave feed back to the host who was lovely and had asked us what we thought .we both agreed it was a beautiful place but some things in the garden were a bit neglected . The view compensated for this . We decided to cut short our stay by a couple of days and find a place in the centre. The host very kindly gave us back the cost of the other 2 nights . Please do not be put off by my comments as for the 2 nights 3 days we were there we loved it .well worth a drive up to it

  The owners were really helpful and kind. The views from the house are outstanding. The pool was really nice, as the temperature was high in Rhodes during our stay. Perfect for someone looking to relax.
  
  What could be improved: I would strongly recommend a car, because the house is in the mountains/hills and the nearest town is a couple kilometers away.

  Amazing location away from all the touristic buzz, authentic villa in the mountains with spacious terrace, great views, super clean swimming pool and the host is so kind. A small village just 5 min drive where locals run their tiny markets and tavernas and you hear Greek more than any other language – it's not packed with tourists so you get a chance to observe real life there. Plenty of amazing beaches nearby. We do travel a lot and can state with certainty it is perfect value for money. We'll be back for sure.

  Good location as a base to go around and explore Rhodes. Facilities are nice and it has a nice 'homey feel'. After a day of exploring cooling off in the pool was a daily activity, especially for the kids. The location is also nice and quiet.

  What could be improved: If I had to name anything it would be that the wifi wasn't always working due to technical issues. No problem for us though because we had good connection with our mobile data and I'm sure it is only a temporary thing that they will solve soon.

  Jaukūs erdvūs apartamentai, labai miela ir draugiška savininkė. Puikus baseinas atsigaivinti rytais prieš keliones. Vakarais jauki terasa pasisedejimui ir saulės palydėjimui. Reiktų pakalbėt su katėm, nes valgyt ateina, o glostytis nesileidžia 😁
  
  What could be improved: Buvo bėdų su karstu vandeniu, o vieną diena vandens apskritai nebuvo, bet manau tai tik sutrikimas kuris buvo pašalintas. Teleskopas netinkamas naudojimui 😔.

  What could be improved: Purtroppo c'era una famiglia composta da 6 persone molto maleducati si sono appropriati della piscina in qualsiasi orario della giornata in modo che nn potesse entrarci nessuno…e facendo molto casino oltretutto la notte dormivano sul bordo piscina disturbano le persone che volevano dormire
