Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to RENI APARTMENT on Apollonos Street – I mean, it’s right in the thick of Faliraki, and honestly, that can go either way. But this place actually surprised me in the best possible way. The building sits just far enough back from the main strip that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of quad bikes and late-night revelers stumbling back from the bars, but you’re still close enough to walk to Anthony Quinn Bay in about fifteen minutes (which, if you haven’t been, is absolutely worth the trek – way better than the main Faliraki beach for snorkeling).
What really got me about RENI is how they’ve managed to create this little oasis of calm without making you feel like you’re missing out on anything. The apartments themselves are properly spacious – not those cramped hotel rooms where you’re tripping over your suitcase every five minutes. I had a one-bedroom unit with a balcony that caught the morning sun perfectly, and honestly, having that coffee spot overlooking the neighborhood’s terracotta rooftops became my favorite part of each day. The kitchen is actually functional too, which matters more than you’d think when you want to grab fresh tomatoes and feta from the little market down the street instead of eating out every single meal. Speaking of which – there’s this family-run taverna about three blocks away that the locals frequent (can’t remember the exact name, but it’s the one with the blue awnings and the grandmother who still makes the bread), and the RENI staff actually pointed me toward it instead of the touristy places.
The whole experience feels refreshingly un-corporate, if that makes sense. Check-in was handled by Maria, who seemed to genuinely care about making sure I knew where everything was – from the nearest pharmacy to which beach bars actually have decent food versus the ones that are just Instagram bait. The apartment stayed cool even during those brutal August afternoons when the temperature was pushing 35 degrees, and the wifi worked reliably enough for video calls back home (always a gamble in smaller Greek properties). I mean, sure, you can hear the occasional motorbike on Apollonos Street, but it’s nothing compared to staying right on the main drag where the party noise goes until 4 AM. Plus, being slightly uphill means you get these glimpses of the Aegean between buildings that you just don’t get from the beachfront places. If you’re the type who wants to experience Faliraki without feeling like you’re trapped in a resort bubble, RENI really nails that balance.
