Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of beachfront places in Greece, but Renes Paradise Seahome actually lives up to its name – and honestly, that’s saying something because most hotels with “paradise” in the title are usually compensating for something. This place sits right on Afandou Beach, which is about a 20-minute drive south of Rhodes Town, and here’s the thing most people don’t realize: Afandou is where the locals go when they want proper beach time without the cruise ship crowds.

The hotel itself has this relaxed, family-run vibe that you don’t get at the big resort chains. When I pulled up (parking’s easy, by the way – there’s plenty of space), the first thing that hit me was how quiet everything was, just the sound of waves and maybe some cicadas in the olive trees nearby. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent WiFi that actually works poolside, and most importantly, they’re not trying too hard with fancy nonsense. My balcony looked straight out at the Aegean, and I mean, you wake up to that view every morning and wonder why you live anywhere else. The beach access is literally just steps away, no crowded boardwalk situation or having to trek through other hotels’ territories.

What really sets this place apart though is the location knowledge you get just by being here. The staff – and I think some of them are family members, it has that feel – they’ll point you toward the good tavernas that aren’t tourist traps. There’s this little place about ten minutes walk down the beach road where they do fresh fish that’s actually caught locally, not shipped in from who knows where. And here’s something I appreciated: during the day, Afandou Beach has enough space that you’re not packed in like sardines (even in July when I was there), but it’s not so remote that you feel stranded. You’ve got the golf course nearby if that’s your thing, and the drive into Rhodes Old Town is scenic – winding coastal roads through those pine forests that smell incredible in the evening heat. The hotel’s pool area gets good sun most of the day, and they’ve got these comfortable loungers that aren’t the plastic torture devices you find everywhere else. Honestly, the 9.8 rating makes sense when you add it all up – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but everything just works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a vacation.

  Le logement de Rene était parfait. La communication et les instructions transmises par Rene étaient très clairs.
  Le logement était parfaitement équipé, il ne manquait rien. C'était propre, spacieux, confortable, et calme.
  
  Idéalement situé à quelques pas de la plage, et des différents sites touristiques de l'île de Rhodes.
