You know what struck me first about Popis Maison? It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Athinас Erganis Street – honestly, I almost walked right past it because it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside. But that’s actually part of its charm. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the medieval Old Town walls, but far enough away that you won’t hear the late-night revelry from the tourist bars echoing off ancient stones.

The whole place feels more like staying at a really stylish friend’s house than a typical Greek island hotel. I mean, sure, it’s got four stars, but they’ve managed to keep that intimate boutique vibe without being pretentious about it. The rooms are beautifully done – think modern comfort meets subtle Greek touches, nothing too heavy-handed with the whitewashed walls and blue accent nonsense you see everywhere else. What I really appreciated was the attention to details that actually matter: proper blackout curtains (trust me, summer sunrise comes early in Rhodes), excellent water pressure, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – really good bedside lighting for reading. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train either, which is rarer than you’d think.

The staff genuinely knows their stuff about Rhodes Town. When I asked about getting to Lindos without joining a tour group, the front desk guy – I think his name was Dimitris – actually drew me a little map showing which bus stop to use and warned me about the crazy crowds after 11 AM. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t Google. Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned to explore both sides of Rhodes’ personality. Walk one direction and you’re wandering through Sokratous Street with its tourist shops and medieval atmosphere. Walk the other way toward the New Town and you’ll find where locals actually eat and shop – there’s this fantastic little bakery on Griva Street that does incredible spanakopita, about five minutes on foot. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area (like everywhere in the Old Town vicinity), but they have arrangements with a nearby lot, and honestly, once you’re settled, you won’t need a car much anyway. The whole experience just flows smoothly – check-in was painless, housekeeping is discreet, and the common areas have this relaxed energy where you might actually want to linger with a coffee rather than rushing out immediately. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special without trying too hard to be special, if that makes sense.

  A typical Greek house with everything you might need during your stay: from a fully equipped kitchen, to reliable wifi, and a perfectly functioning washing machine. The interiors reflect authentic Greek style, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.
  The house is in an excellent location, just a short walk from the old town of Rhodes, it’s the perfect balance between being close to the main attractions and being in a quiet place to enjoy peace. Nearby, there are also delicious traditional tavernas where you can enjoy authentic Greek cuisine.
  Our stay was made truly unforgettable thanks to the hosts, who welcomed us warmly and were always available. Their hospitality made us feel right at home from day one. They provided us with valuable tips, helping us discover the most authentic and beautiful spots on the island, from stunning beaches to hidden restaurants offering local dishes.
  Thanks to them, we had a genuine Greek experience, far from the usual tourist spots, immersing ourselves in the culture and traditions of the island. We can't wait to come back!

  The host, Mikele, was super helpful and friendly and is clearly passionate about looking after visitors. The flat was extremely cute with great decor from the island. There are some excellent, very affordable and non-touristy restaurants around. The flat is named after a cute cat who will come by to visit 🙂
