Hotel Description

So you know how sometimes you stumble across a place that’s just… right? That’s exactly what happened when I first walked into Platoni Elite on Iraklidon Avenue. I mean, the location alone had me sold – you’re literally a stone’s throw from Ialyssos Beach, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strip. The whole area has this laid-back vibe that honestly feels more authentic than some of the flashier resort zones further south.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between polished and personal. The lobby has this warm, contemporary Greek feel – not the overdone “rustic taverna” theme you see everywhere, but actually tasteful. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or pushy upselling, and they actually gave useful local tips without me having to ask three times. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and bathrooms that feel recently updated. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything works the way it should.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the little things that show they pay attention. The balconies actually have proper seating (not those tiny plastic chairs), the air conditioning is quiet enough that you can sleep, and there’s decent soundproofing between rooms. You know that awful feeling when you can hear your neighbors’ entire conversation? Yeah, not an issue here. The pool area gets busy during peak afternoon hours, but if you go early morning or late afternoon, it’s perfect for actually relaxing. And honestly, the food is better than it needs to be – I’ve stayed at places twice the price where the breakfast was sad croissants and watery coffee, but here you’re getting proper Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and they make a decent omelet. The evening restaurant isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s solid comfort food with a few local dishes thrown in that are actually worth ordering.

Location-wise, you’re about a 15-minute walk to the main Ialyssos strip where all the restaurants and bars are, but close enough to the quieter residential streets that you get a feel for how locals actually live. There’s decent parking if you rent a car – which I’d recommend because Rhodes has so much to explore beyond the immediate area. The ancient Acropolis of Ialysos is practically next door, and you can easily day-trip to Rhodes Town or some of the smaller villages on the island. Bus connections are reliable too if you prefer not to drive. What really sells me on Platoni Elite is that 9.6 rating – and after staying there, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but everything they do, they do well. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Such an incredible place! We loved the comfort, the food, the extremely friendly staff, the views, the birding! Indeed, this is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. The family who run the establishment could not be more friendly and accommodating. When we arrived late in the evening, they even kept the kitchen open to provide us with dinner (which was superb!). Their vegetarian options were superb too! After every meal the host Startos would surprise us with a little extra..a sumptuous dessert, some greek yoghurt with honey, some fruit, you name it!
As fans of nature, the hotel also provided a fantastic base for birding, and we even saw flocks of bee eaters from the balcony. Right next door there is a fantastic museum of gemstones and fossils, which is highly recommended so please do visit.
Our room was amazing, with a large comfortable bed, and a separate kitchen area with sofa and TV. The bathroom was clean with a great shower.
When we went to Lindos for the rest of our holiday, Stratos said that if we wanted to return to relax before our flight home, we could leave the bags, enjoy the facilities and even take a shower! We did take them up on their kind offer when we returned from Lindos and this allowed us to take it easy for the afternoon before we had to head to the airport.
If you go to Rhodes, please, please, please book this hotel, you will not be dissapointed!

The size of the complex was lovely; not too many rooms so you are made to feel extra special from the get go. It’s tucked away in a small side road, which is lovely as you’re not on a main road! The family are so incredibly welcoming and generous, the food, the hospitality, flawless. Our room was spacious and spotless and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Our space included a small kitchenette/dining room, 2 single beds to make up a double, a very large bathroom with a shower and access to 2 balconies (one is more for drying your clothes). Every day the rooms are cleaned with fresh towels provided. Will definitely be returning! Strongly recommend.

Side note, there are a lot of friendly stray cats in the area. They’re looked after by local people, with food and flea and wormers. This definitely isn’t an issue for us as we love cats, but maybe if you aren’t a fan of furry friends I wouldn’t look at staying in Rhodes at all.

A massive thank you to Stratos, Marianthi, Giannis (so sorry if I’ve spelt these wrong!!!) you are all absolutely amazing and made our first holiday together, truly special. We really didn’t want to go home and felt emotional leaving from such a heartfelt holiday. Plenty of memories, laughs and moments to remember. We wish you all the best with the future of Platoni Elite and your own individual lives.

The family were all incredibly helpful and hospitable. The accommodation was superb and we had everything we could possibly need. The pool area was lovely and quiet, perfect for some chill time in the sun. We loved that they had delicious vegan options to eat at the restaurant and for breakfast. One of the best places we have stayed and would be more than happy to go back.

Excellent accommodation with a free upgrade, lovely comfy bed. Lovely family run accommodation and such lovely friendly staff. Great pool. Breakfast was amazing, plentiful, great choice and very fresh. We were only there two nights and had two towel changes. The taverna also does great food at lunchtime and in the evening 😋

What could be improved: Nothing at all to dislike.

    Wonderful breakfasts.
    Beautiful comfortable bed.
Good location for Rhodes town and airport.

  • Joanne from United Kingdom – 19 April 2025 (10/10)

It was a small apartment with a balcony front and back. No amazing views but we knew that and that is reflected in the price. It has a pretty pool area and garden which was very much enough for us as we were travelling around during the day. Good size, adult kids and it was more than fine – 2 great size singles for them. Double room for us. Great recessed colour lighting. Very very clean. Location was perfect.

What could be improved: Nothing at all !

  • Bruce from Netherlands – 5 November 2024 (10/10)

Stavros was very helpful and gave us good tips for restaurants and Rhodes attractions. Nice pool and room was cleaned every day. Good location opposite supermarket and close to the beach and the bus to Rhodes city. Excellent value for money, highly recommend.

  • Lauren from United Kingdom – 26 October 2024 (10/10)

Great location, close to Ialyssos Center and easy bus route (2 min walk to the bus stop, then a 15 min journey) to get to the Old Town. Lovely facilities and kept really clean. The rooms were spacious and even though we had 4 adults sharing, we still had more than enough room for all of our stuff and never felt like we were on top of each other! Excellent value for money.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Julie from United Kingdom – 20 October 2024 (9/10)

Small, quiet and friendly. Stratos and his family could not do enough for us. Ate at the hotel most nights as the selection and quality of food was perfect for us. Four or five local dishes added daily to the already vast menu, prepared and cooked by Stratos’s sister Marianthi. Breakfast was huge and kept us going until early evening. Fresh towels and bed made up daily. The hotel itself is set back from the main road, where a large supermarket is situated and the local bus stop for Rhodes Town and the airport. Easy 10 minute stroll to the beach front and another ten into the main part of the town. Small land train available that takes you around the resort.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Michal from Israel – 18 October 2024 (10/10)

We had such a great time at this hotel. The hospitality was amazing and the food was great. Wonderful place run by a wonderful family who loved to help us with every issue.
