You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first walked up to Petrino on Aristofanous Street – I mean, there are so many little hotels tucked into Rhodes’ Old Town that it’s hard to know what you’re getting. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has that perfect blend of medieval stone and thoughtful modern touches that you don’t see everywhere, and honestly, the location is just brilliant. You’re literally surrounded by those ancient cobblestone streets that make Rhodes Town feel like you’ve stepped back in time, but you’re not stuck in some tourist trap area where you can’t find a decent meal.

What really gets me about Petrino is how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Greek island feel without sacrificing comfort – and I say this as someone who’s stayed in way too many “charming” places that turned out to be just old and uncomfortable. The rooms are actually well-appointed (I’m talking proper air conditioning, which you’ll definitely need in summer), and there’s this attention to detail that shows someone really cares about the place. The staff genuinely knows the area too, which makes such a difference when you’re trying to figure out where to eat or how to avoid the cruise ship crowds. Speaking of crowds – here’s something most people don’t realize about staying in the Old Town: early mornings and evenings are absolutely magical when all the day-trippers have left, and you get these narrow streets practically to yourself.

I’ll be honest, the 9.6 rating initially made me wonder if it was too good to be true, but after staying there… well, it makes sense. It’s not just that everything works properly (though that helps), it’s that you feel like you’re experiencing Rhodes the way it’s supposed to be experienced. You can walk to the Palace of the Grand Master in about five minutes, duck into little tavernas that locals actually frequent, and when you need to escape the midday heat, you’re not hiking back to some resort outside town. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re driving, parking in the Old Town can be a bit of an adventure – but honestly, once you’re settled in at Petrino, you probably won’t want to use your car much anyway. There’s something about falling asleep to the sound of the Aegean breeze through those ancient streets that just hits different, you know?

  We had a fabulous 3 nights at Petrino. Great apartment, exceptionally well kitted out, which was very comfortable. We loved our private roof terrace, as well as sitting in the courtyard below. The location is superb for exploring the old town, port, and harbour. Blerina, the housekeeper, was an absolute delight, and we loved our breakfasts, which she made with such care and pride. Thank you for looking after us like family. Could not recommend this lovely 4 room place more.

  Perfect place to stay in Rhodos town. Our apartment was beautiful, comfy and had everything we could need and more. Staff was extremely sweet, helpful and accommodating. We loved Blaire, who served us a delicious breakfast in the morning, including her homemade cake, which was exceptional. She is such a sweetheart and amazing host! The location is also great: everything is super close, but its still located in a side street which means its less loud in the evenings. I highly recommend staying here!

  Petrino is a small well looked after guesthouse. My husband and I stayed in one of their family apartments. Situated right in the old town on a quiet back street. It is for people who like to be self sufficient.
  Blair, is a very gentle and sweet lady who is the star of the place. We had breakfast included on our price and she was the one serving breakfast and had interaction with the guests.
  
  What could be improved: We loved it all. My only little niggle was that they don’t seem to have any fire alarms.

  The location in the old town was amazing. You are close to everything to see in the town, and the port and beach is not far to enjoy boat trips or beach time.
  The accommodation was comfortable, clean and quiet. The added bonus of ‘ Blair’ the housekeeper was amazing and her chocolate cake was delicious.
  
  What could be improved: We’d booked for a breakfast each morning. Breakfast is at 8:30am, and not any earlier. If you intend to book any trips they often leave before breakfast is served. It’s pointless paying extra for breakfasts if you intend going on daily trips. We missed out on some of Blair’s chocolate cake!

  What could be improved: Stairs are very narrow and there is a window at the top of the stairs without a curtain which sees the bad. And this is disturbing..
