You know what struck me first about Petra Villas? It’s tucked away in Gennadi in this perfect spot where you actually feel like you’re staying in a Greek village, not some touristy bubble. I mean, Gennadi itself is honestly one of those places that still feels authentic – it’s down on the southeastern coast of Rhodes, far enough from the cruise ship crowds in Rhodes Town that you get to experience what the island is actually like.

The villas themselves are really well done, and I can see why they’re pulling a 9.3 rating. They’ve got that traditional Cycladic vibe going on with the white-washed walls, but it doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard, you know? Each villa has its own character – some have better sea views than others (definitely worth asking about when you book), and the terraces are spacious enough that you can actually spread out with your morning coffee without bumping elbows with your travel companion. The interiors are clean and modern but still feel Greek, if that makes sense. Good air conditioning too, which honestly matters more than you’d think when you’re there in July or August.

What I really loved about staying here was how easy it made exploring this part of Rhodes. Gennadi Beach is literally a five-minute walk – it’s this long stretch of pebbles and sand that rarely gets crowded, even in peak season. The water’s incredibly clear, and there’s usually a decent breeze which makes the heat more manageable. If you rent a car (and you should), you’re perfectly positioned to hit some of the island’s best spots that most tourists miss. Prasonisi is about twenty minutes south – that’s where the Aegean and Mediterranean actually meet, and it’s wild to see. Lindos is maybe thirty minutes north, but here’s the thing: you can visit it during the day and then come back to Gennadi for dinner at one of the local tavernas where you’re not paying tourist prices.

The staff at Petra Villas really knows their stuff about the area. They pointed me toward this little family-run place for dinner that I never would’ve found otherwise – it’s just off the main road through town, nothing fancy, but the grilled octopus was incredible. They also helped arrange a boat trip that departed from nearby Plimmiri, which was way more relaxed than the big group tours leaving from Rhodes harbor.

Look, it’s not a resort with pools and entertainment programs – it’s more like having your own little Greek house for a week. The kitchenettes are actually functional (rare in vacation rentals), parking is easy and free, and the whole place is quiet enough that you can hear the sea if you listen for it. The only real downside is that you’ll need to drive or take a bus if you want nightlife – Gennadi pretty much rolls up the sidewalks after dinner. But honestly, after a day of exploring ancient ruins and swimming in water that blue, you might not mind the quiet evenings on your terrace with a bottle of local wine.

  Highly recommended! The location of the villa was exceptional with views over the ocean from the back and views over the mountains to the rear. The village of Gennadi was only a 2 minute drive away and you can walk down to the local beach in 5 minutes from the villa. The pool was much welcomed after a day adventuring around the island with the children and the villa has everything you need to make your stay nice and easy! Towels for the pool, the bathroom, lots of seating around the pool, barbecue, etc. John came to meet us at the villa on arrival and talked us through everything and gave us some great ideas for things to do. He was on hand on his mobile the whole time! We even got left some beautiful fruit and eggs from his parents property.

  Everything was great. The villa was spotless/clean.
  Anything that was missing was immediately provided by John.

  A few kitchen “essentials” were missing or in short supply. But anything we asked for was supplied immediately by John.
  There are two neighbouring villas. Their occupants were always fine.
  The price is high, but it’s “market rate”

  Very nice villa with beautiful seaview from the balcony. The owner was responsive to all our requests. Beach within 3 min walk. A wonderful place for a quiet vacation away from the crowds.
  
  What could be improved: The lack of a shower curtain in the downstairs bathroom makes the whole bathroom wet.

  The location of the villa was perfect, views over the see and a great green landscape, the village of Gennadi was only 2 minute by car, and the beach is located in front of the villa, only 2 minutes by walk. At our arrival John was there to welcome us with some fruits from his yard.
  At the villa we found everything we need. The pool was big and clean.

  Our stay at the Petras Villa was very nice. The neighbors and John were very nice and always helpful. a beautiful clean pool, a very fantastic accommodation. The sea was 100 meters (2 minutes walk) from and away. The accommodation is very good in terms of price/performance ratio. 1000€ for 5 days in a villa that has everything to offer. the view was outstanding. We had the best 5 days of our lives there and will definitely come back next year. Thank you for your hospitality John!

  The villa is beautiful, has a lovely large pool, barbecue and lots of sun lounges. There is a seating area outside too which we enjoyed having breakfast and dinner at. There are two very spacious and clean bedrooms and a large sofa bed downstairs. The kitchen has everything you would need and the bathrooms were great too. Overall, the villa is absolutely beautiful and we would definitely recommend
  
  The beach is a one minute walk and it is useful to have a car to drive to the nearby shops and restaurants however it is possible to walk (15-20 minutes)
  
  The location of the villa is perfect if you enjoy a quiet holiday and lots of site-seeing to do- Lindos, one of the bigger towns is a 25 minute drive which has lots of site-seeing and restaurants.
  
  The owner of the villa was very helpful, anything we required he was there straight away and he was very good to talk to. He would supply fresh bedding, and we knew if we had any issues he would resolve them.

  John, the owner welcomes us when we arrived, and explain us about the kitchen facilities, the pool, air conditions, TV ec.
  The Kitchen facilities were extended than usual. Check out was easy too. The villa was maintain on a good manner. It was very pleasurer to have the first coffee near the pool when the sun is raising up!
  
  What could be improved: The garden lights were probably on automatic mode and needs to be tune pending monthly base cause the pass way from the parking drive to the villa was almost dark after 18.00.
