Staying in Haraki itself turned out to be one of those happy accidents that becomes the highlight of a trip. The village has this authentic Greek island feel that bigger resort areas have sort of lost — there are a few traditional tavernas where locals actually eat, and the beach never feels overcrowded. I discovered that the best souvlaki on this part of the island is about a three-minute walk from the villas, at a place that doesn’t even have a proper sign. The location rating of 9.0 from recent guests makes complete sense once you experience how easy it is to access both the peaceful local scene and the must-see attractions.
