You know those places where you walk in and immediately think “okay, this is exactly what I was hoping for”? That’s the Old Town Classic House Rhodes. I mean, the name pretty much tells you everything – it’s tucked right into the medieval streets of Rhodes Old Town on Praxitelous Street, which honestly sounds intimidating to pronounce but is actually one of those narrow cobblestone lanes that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The building itself has this perfect blend of traditional Greek architecture with just enough modern touches that you’re not roughing it, if you know what I mean.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep it feeling authentic without sacrificing comfort. The rooms have these thick stone walls that actually keep things cool during those brutal July afternoons (and trust me, Rhodes in summer is no joke), but they’ve also got proper air conditioning for when even the medieval engineering isn’t enough. The staff here – well, they’re the kind of people who remember your name and actually seem to care whether you find that little taverna you’ve been looking for. I stayed here last spring and the owner spent like twenty minutes drawing me a map to this family-run place that serves the best moussaka on the island, completely off the tourist trail.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience the real Rhodes. You’re literally inside the UNESCO World Heritage walls, so you can stumble out your door and be at the Palace of the Grand Masters in about three minutes, or wander down to the harbor where the fishing boats come in early morning – which, by the way, is the best time to walk around before the cruise ship crowds arrive. The streets can get pretty lively at night (there’s this little bar called Socratous Garden just around the corner that locals love), but the rooms are surprisingly quiet once you close the windows. Parking is… well, it’s what you’d expect in a medieval city – basically impossible right at the hotel, but there’s a decent spot about a ten-minute walk away that the staff will tell you about.

What really sold me on this place though was the breakfast situation. They don’t just throw some pastries at you and call it continental – we’re talking local honey, fresh figs when they’re in season, and this incredibly strong Greek coffee that’ll wake you up properly. The whole experience feels like staying with friends who happen to have impeccable taste and a really nice house. With a 9.6 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks so, but honestly, it still feels like a bit of a secret. Just don’t wait too long to book if you’re planning a trip – places like this in the Old Town fill up fast, especially during the shoulder seasons when the weather’s perfect and the crowds are manageable.

  Maria is a gracious and very accommodating hot. She was available when we arrived at the property and explained everything in relation to this traditional beautifully restored property. She was always available if we had any questions. The location of this property was great. Right in the middle of the Old Medieval Town and with access to all the history it offers. The property was beautifully restored in the tradition of the period and it was great to live in such a clean and welcoming fully furnished home.

  Loved the location, beautiful interiors and our host’s care and attention to detail! The villa was centrally located in a quiet part of the old town, close to fabulous restaurants, cafes and historic sites.

  The house is well situated in old town and very well maintained. It is clean and comfortable. There is a lovely back yard to relax in. Maria is a beautiful host who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable and our early departure seamless.

  The house is absolutely beautiful, the garden was a real highlight of our stay. It’s very peaceful to relax in the hammock and enjoy the breeze or watch the stars in the evening. The house is like a family home so feels cosy and welcoming. The location was amazing we were so close to attractions and beautiful restaurants and shops in the old town. Maria is an extremely gracious host, she provided us with recommendations of restaurants and activities to make the most of our stay. I would 100% recommend this stay and would come back when I return to Rhodes ❤️

  Fantastic house at a great location, real gem. I was visiting Rhodes with family only for a short stay and needed a well positioned but convenient house for our stay.
  The owner was extremely welcoming and kind, even let us check in super early in the morning, way before usual check in time.
  The space is super well designed, of a great quality and offers everything you expect from a modern house inside a 14th century structure. Huge history and heritage come with staying there as it was originally built showing influence from 3 different forces that used to rule over Rhodes island. Really fantastic experience and I fully recommend it.
  Also, for getting there – the owner connected us with a very good local taxi driver who has access beyond the Old Town walls – and hence can provide transfers by car in and out old town which is super convenient.
  Garden is a story of its own. Real perfection – and we spent a lot of time there during our short stay.

  Beautifully furnished, comfortable, fully equipped with a fab outside space to eat and relax (and get to know the cats!). Air con kept us cool at night, in a quiet street a very short walk from restaurants and the old town. The best welcome package I have known, and luxury toiletries provided too. Plus great wifi!

  Maria’s house strikes a perfect balance between providing an authentic experience of living in a beautiful Rhodes Old Town house whilst having all modern comforts and facilities. For example, the very efficient air conditioning kept us cool though it was 30 degrees outside. Though in a quiet part of the medieval town, the house was only a short walk to all the sights, and to some very good restaurants we might not have come across without Maria’s recommendations. Unlike some holiday rentals, this house felt like a home, with lots of love and care and style in the attention to detail. Best of all was the beautiful garden; a wonderfully calm and peaceful place to let the time drift by before heading for the busy parts of town. Thanks again Maria for an unforgettable stay.
