Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of beachfront places in Rhodes, but the Oceanis Beach Hotel on Ixia Avenue actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. First thing you notice pulling up isn’t some massive lobby trying too hard – it’s just this solid, well-maintained building that feels like it belongs on the coastline. The whole Ixia strip can get pretty touristy, but honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad thing when you want easy access to everything without the crazy crowds of Rhodes Town.

What really sold me was stepping onto their terrace area and realizing you’re looking straight out at the Aegean, with those dramatic hills of Turkey visible on clear days. The beach access is proper direct – none of that walking-through-three-hotels nonsense you get at some places. Ixia Beach itself is more pebbles than sand, which I know puts some people off, but it means the water stays clearer and you’re not dealing with sand in absolutely everything. The hotel’s beach setup is decent too, though you’ll want to grab your spots early during peak season (July and August get properly busy).

I mean, it’s a solid four-star place, so don’t expect boutique luxury, but the rooms are well-maintained and actually functional. Air conditioning works properly – crucial in summer – and most rooms have those little balconies where you can sit with morning coffee and watch the windsurfers doing their thing. Speaking of which, Ixia is huge for windsurfing, so if you’re into water sports or just like watching people who are better at them than you, you’re in the right spot. The hotel staff seem to know this crowd well and can sort you out with equipment rentals and lessons.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute bus ride into Rhodes Old Town, which is perfect because you can do the tourist thing during the day but come back to somewhere quieter at night. There’s a decent taverna called Dimitris just up the road that locals actually eat at – always a good sign. The hotel’s own restaurant is fine, nothing spectacular, but their breakfast spread covers all the basics and then some. Parking can be a bit tight during busy periods, but there’s usually something available if you’re not too picky about walking an extra minute or two.

What I appreciated most was that the place feels lived-in rather than sterile. You know those hotels where everything’s so perfect it’s almost uncomfortable? This isn’t that. It’s comfortable in the way good hotels should be – clean, reliable, with staff who’ve clearly been there long enough to know what they’re doing. The pool area gets good sun most of the day, and there are enough quiet corners that you can find space even when it’s busy. Honestly, for the price point and that 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.

  The staff was really nice, and super helpful! The location and the view is beatufiul, really close to the shore! and the airport is only 20 minutes! the hotel is really clean, huge selection of food every day!

  Hotel was lovely, great food and plenty of choice all the staff were very polite and helpfull. Location was also good nearby bars for a change of scenery and a nice trip to rhodes old town 15 mins in a taxi. The beach across the road was also great excellent week. The reception was excelllent liked when we booked a taxi you get a slip with taxi number and cost. Also self service beer taps an soft drinks good.
  
  What could be improved: Maids had an habit of taking room card when cleaning and had to ask for cards back on a few occaisions as we had two cards we might have been charged if we didn't return both when checking out. Fridge in the room didn't really make much difference didn't keep water cold more tepid, although would still return didn't spoil the holiday just slight inconvienances.

  What could be improved: We personally did not like the food and thought it was quite bland but this is to be expected with buffet food. However, we are used to more seasoning in our food, some people may like though so down to personal taste

  The hotel is well kept with staff cleaning after everyone constantly.
  Truly, kudos to the team for keeping the place so spotless.
  The staff are all very very kind and seem willing to help. Staff at the restaurant are also very kind.
  The rooms are cleaned daily and towels are switched out every day.
  The variety of food at the pool bar is really great and really what you'd like to get when you're next to the pool. Fries, pizza, gyros, tzatziki…. Enjoyed it the most out of my stay
  
  What could be improved: – I found the food during dinner to be mostly disappointing and bland.
  – My shower head broke down but it was promptly fixed within less than an hour, so no complaints, things happen
  – The air conditioner can not be set to lower than 20C, which in my opinion isnt cold enough, the room is still warm.
  – AC turns off when you leave the room, so you cant come back to a chilled room
  – Drinks during the day are OK, Mostly beer and wine, drinks during the night however – are 100% watered down, I would not be surprised if the beer at night was 0% alcohol. Wine is also very watered down, at least feels like it.
  – Sun beds are hard to get if you dont reserve one with a towel.

  beautiful beach, a few minutes by bus or taxi to Rhodes old town, nice and kind stuff. if you walk a few minutes there’s a extreme sport on the next beach.
