Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Rhodes Old Town, and honestly? Most of them are either charming but falling apart or modern but soulless. Naillac Elite Suites actually manages to thread that needle pretty well. The location on Plateia Gavriil Charitou is kind of perfect – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the medieval walls, but you’re not right in the thick of the tourist madness that happens around Sokratous Street during the day.

The suites themselves are… well, they’re proper suites, not just hotel rooms with a sitting area tacked on. I mean, you’ve got actual space to spread out, which is rare in the Old Town where most places are squeezed into these ancient buildings. The design walks this interesting line between contemporary comfort and respecting the historical vibe – think clean lines but with stone accents that remind you you’re sleeping inside 700-year-old walls. What really got me was the attention to small details: the lighting actually works for reading (revolutionary concept, I know), the shower has proper water pressure, and – this might sound weird – but the air conditioning is whisper quiet. You know how most Greek hotels have AC units that sound like helicopters? Not here.

The staff gets it too. Check-in was smooth, but more importantly, they seem to understand that travelers want local insights, not just directions to the nearest tourist trap. The woman at reception pointed me toward this tiny taverna on Pythagora Street that I never would have found otherwise – honestly one of the best meals I had on the island. And here’s something I didn’t expect: parking is actually sorted. They’ve got arrangements with a secure lot about five minutes away, which might not sound like much, but if you’ve ever tried to navigate a rental car through those narrow cobblestone streets… well, you’ll appreciate not having to worry about it. The only minor thing – and I’m really reaching here – is that the rooms facing the square can get a bit lively in the evenings when the outdoor restaurants fill up, but honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying in the heart of things. Plus, you’re in Greece – embrace the energy, right? For a 4-star place, it punches above its weight, and that 9.2 rating isn’t just tourist enthusiasm – it’s deserved.

  Spacious apartment and hotel across the road had lovely facilities.
  – Easy desk check with accompanying tour of the room and facilities
  – Plenty of free parking in the area
  – Close to beach and an easy walk to Rhodes town and a comfortable walk to the old town
  – The breakfast was excellent and a clean chilled atmosphere
  – The hotel pool was idyllic, with comfy loungers and a perfect size pool to cool off
  – Staff friendly and cleaning staff even more, the 2 ladies that serviced the room each day was very nice
  – The apartment across the road from the hotel wasn't a problem and we had a balcony space to relax outdoors
  – Apartment was large with plenty of hanging and luggage space
  – Iron and full sized board was handy
  
  What could be improved: Only minor negatives
  – Facilities like the front loading washing machine was handy for beach towels etc however they didn't provide you with wet clothes hanging facilities like an airer so it was a problem to dry. I had to get creative. I did have to clean the washing machine before use as I found some grime and a bandaid/plaster, so bought cleaning product to use. Unlike other apartments it would have been nice to be provided with some laundry detergent
  – I did find lack of ventilation in the bathroom a problem, as the wooden doors aren't fit for purpose so when they got wet they would expand and stick to the floor. They are getting a little mouldy, wet rooms and wood doesn't really work. So some odour sometimes towards the end of the stay.
  – Finally lighting in the building. The corridor to the room only had one light switch at the front door (and it was a long corridor), so you have to keep your apartment door open to turn it on and run back to lock your door before leaving. This was the same as the hallyway to walk downstairs, at night you needed a torch.

  It was a really sweet, clean, beautiful small hotel with lovely poolside and very good breakfast. The people were really friendly and welcome was warm.

  Breakfast was lovely, there was a good selection, and the staff at breakfast were very nice especially the cook, she made us feel welcomed. The pool and the room were also great.
