You know what surprised me about Monte Smith Hill? It’s actually perched up on this quiet residential street – Βορείου Ηπείρου – that most tourists never find, which honestly is part of its charm. When I first walked up to the place (and yeah, it’s a bit of a walk uphill from the main drag), I wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star spot, but this place has that rare thing where the 9.4 rating actually makes sense once you’re there.

The location is sort of genius, really. You’re close enough to Rhodes Town that you can easily walk down to the medieval city – maybe 10 minutes if you don’t mind the slope – but far enough up the hill that you escape all that cruise ship chaos that hits the harbor area. I mean, you can actually hear yourself think here, especially in the evenings when the breeze picks up. The staff clearly knows their regulars (I saw the same German couple there three times over two years), and they’ve got this laid-back professionalism that feels authentically Greek rather than resort-polished. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no complicated key card situations, just “here’s your room, the café down the street makes excellent coffee.”

What really sold me was discovering that Monte Smith Archaeological Park is literally a five-minute walk away. Most people staying in the old town never make it up there, but you’ve got ancient Rhodes spread out below you, especially beautiful just before sunset when the light hits the ruins just right. The hotel itself isn’t fancy – think clean, comfortable rooms with decent air conditioning (crucial in July) and that particular Greek approach to hospitality where they genuinely want you to enjoy yourself rather than just spend money. Parking can be a bit tricky on the narrow street, but there’s usually space if you’re patient. The only real downside is that you’ll need to walk or taxi if you want late-night dining options, since the immediate neighborhood is pretty residential. But honestly, after dealing with the crowds and tourist prices down in the harbor area all day, coming back to this quiet corner of Rhodes Town feels like finding a secret. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to sit on your balcony with a book instead of rushing off to the next Instagram spot.

  What a beautiful apartment! Huge living room with a dining area, nice kitchen, spacy sleeping room with great shades (gets really dark at night) and beautiful terrace with a lounging area! We were equipped with shower gel and shampoo, lots of towels and some snacks. The owner also sent us lots of recommendations for bars, pools and restaurants before the trip and was almost available 24/7. If we needed some help or anything else, she replied quickly and took care of it.
  
  The pictures do it justice. Yes, the bathroom is rather small but it was ok. The other rooms are spaciuos and the view from the entrance is mindblowing! Also, the apartment was really clean when we arrived. I mean, really clean!
  
  The beach was 10min by foot and the supermarket as well.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that really bothered us was the Wifi. The connection went on and off and the router needed to be restarted all the time by the neighbour. So if you want to work here, keep that in mind.
  Besides that, I think a SmartTV with streaming apps (although wifi needed) would enhance the experience of the apartment.

  Realy nice apartment, nice area, close to Akropolis, old town and city beach. The host gave us lots of recomendations for restaurants and activities also places outside the tourist areas. Nice.

  The apartment is renovated, sunny, and impeccably clean, with all the amenities you need, including a Nespresso machine, coffee/tea facilities, shampoo, and more. Everything is decorated with care, just like the pictures. The comfortable, big bed and efficient A/C were much appreciated during the June heat. You can enjoy your breakfast every day or your wine at night in the fresh, private garden. The friendly, professional staff helped us with our luggage. The apartment is only a 7-8 minute walk to the Old Town and a 10-minute walk to the center. Parking is available right outside the apartment. You can enjoy the most beautiful sunset while walking outside the apartment

  Located atop Monte Smith Hill in Rhodes, Greece, this charming apartment offers a delightful and memorable Greek getaway. The Old Town is just a 10-minute walk away. It is strategically positioned atop the mountain, providing a tranquil escape from the city noise. Supermarkets and cafes are conveniently located within a 4-minute walk. The gracious host adds to the experience, offering wonderful care, bringing sweets and other small gifts to the appartment during our stay. Additionally they provided us with numerous tips for places to visit and dine, making our stay even more enjoyable. If you require a taxi to and from any location, the host can also arrange this for you!

  Fantastic holiday thanks to the host / owner of the property. The property was beautiful, clean and comfortable; it was a fantastic size apartment with high ceilings, comfy bed and nice lighting in the mornings. The host was wonderful, sending me and my partner information on where is good to eat and visit, and being highly available, helping with anything she could. The whole stay was exceptional.
