Location & Getting Around

Ixia is one of those places that locals will tell you about if you ask the right questions. You’re close enough to Rhodes Town that a quick taxi ride gets you to the medieval Old Town (maybe 10 minutes), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds every morning. The beach here is actually really nice — pebbly rather than sandy, which means the water stays clearer. There’s free private parking on site, which you’ll appreciate if you rent a car to explore the island. I mean, parking in Rhodes Town can be a nightmare, so having a guaranteed spot to come back to is honestly a relief.

The Rooms & Comfort

The rooms at Monte Mare Rhodes have this comfortable, unfussy vibe that works really well for couples — and apparently other guests agree, since couples rate this place particularly highly. You know what I liked? The balconies actually face something worth looking at, whether that’s the sea or the hills behind Ixia. The beds are properly comfortable (not too soft, not too firm), and the air conditioning works well, which matters more than you’d think during Rhodes summers. The bathrooms are modern without being flashy, with decent water pressure and space to spread out your stuff.

The Ixia Experience

What makes staying here special is how it connects you to this particular stretch of Rhodes. Ixia has this relaxed, almost residential feel during the day, but come evening, there are some genuinely good tavernas within walking distance. The beach right here is popular with windsurfers — the wind conditions are apparently ideal, though I’m no expert. You can walk along the coast toward Rhodes Town if you’re feeling energetic, or just settle in at one of the beach bars and watch the sunset, which from this angle is pretty spectacular.

  We really loved our stay at Monte Mares Rhodes. Vasilis and his family welcomed us and even provided some food for our stay, which was very kind. The house is really well equipped with everything you could need for your stay, including a washing machine and lots of kitchen equipment and it is very clean. If you have a car at your disposal it is very easy to get to Rhodes city or around the island. The family will happily give you tips on where to go and Vasilis is always at your disposal for any questions. We really enjoyed staying at Monte Mares and will happily come back.

  the host is so friendly and enthusiastic. there is a supermarket near house，and we could make a cook easily. generally，this house is great. If you have international driver license and rent a car, it would be wonderful.

  Monte Mare Rhodes is a great vacation villa hotel. The interior decoration is simple yet fully functional, and filled with a lively atmosphere. The landlord Vasilis is very kind, and has prepared many daily necessities and drinks for us. There are also cute cat Meow and Anna's dog Hector in the yard, which are very friendly to people. We really enjoyed our stay here. If you can rent a car, this will be the perfect choice for your vacation accommodation.
  
  What could be improved: The hotel is located some distance away from the main road, so it's not very convenient to take public transportation if you don't have a car rental.
