Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Rhodes Town, and Mini City Escape honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. The name makes it sound like some generic boutique spot, but this little gem on Alexandrou Diakou street is actually something special. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone here gets it”? That’s exactly what happened when I checked in.

The location is what really sold me, though I didn’t fully appreciate it until my second day. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Mandraki Harbor – I mean, you can hear the boats if you open your window in the morning, but it’s not obnoxious or anything. What’s brilliant is that you’re close enough to everything (the Palace of the Grand Master is maybe eight minutes on foot) but you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos on Socratous Street. I actually slept through the night here, which… well, anyone who’s tried to get decent sleep in the old town during peak season knows that’s kind of a miracle.

The rooms have this sort of modern-meets-traditional vibe that could’ve gone horribly wrong but actually works. Clean lines, good air conditioning (crucial in July, trust me), and – this is the detail that stuck with me – really thoughtful lighting. You can actually read in bed without squinting or turning on every lamp in the room. The staff genuinely seemed to care about the small stuff too. When I mentioned I was planning to catch the early ferry to Symi, the front desk guy didn’t just nod politely – he actually wrote down the exact walking route to the port and reminded me that ticket sales start at 7:30, not 8:00 like I’d read online somewhere.

Here’s what I mean about them getting the details right: there’s a little fridge that’s actually cold, the shower has proper water pressure, and the WiFi works in every corner of the room. Sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many four-star places mess up at least one of those things. The breakfast spread isn’t huge, but everything they do serve is fresh – proper Greek yogurt, decent coffee, and bread that doesn’t taste like it came from a plastic bag three days ago.

Honestly, the 9.7 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two here. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s the kind of place where everything just… works. You’re not fighting with key cards or hunting for ice machines or wondering if that stain on the curtain was there when you arrived. I ended up extending my stay an extra night, partly because I liked the room, but mostly because I realized I could walk to three different beaches, the archaeological museum, and about fifteen tavernas I wanted to try – all without dealing with buses or taxis or any of that hassle.

If you’re looking for a rooftop pool or a spa or whatever, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere comfortable and well-run in Rhodes Town that doesn’t feel like a tourist factory, Mini City Escape is pretty much perfect. Just book directly with them if you can – I have a feeling this place is going to get a lot more popular once word gets out.

  This is a beautiful, clean and ideally located apartment. We felt like home, everything we needed was there. The host is very friendly and helpful. He has worked hard to make his guests feel wonderful and it shows in every detail. I highly recommend it and will definitely stay there again the next time we return to the island.❤️

  The apartment was very clean, well equipped with every thing needed for a comfortable stay. Excellent location for the beach, restaurants/bars, old town, port and bus station. Our host was very helpful and quick to reply to any questions we had.

  Amazing, clean and well equipped apartment. Close to the beach and the old town so amazing location. The host was really helpful, everything was perfect.

  The apartment is in a great position and even though it is on a main road, with the doors closed there is no road noise.
  
  The apartment has been thought and designed well, very boutique feeling and all new.
  
  The entrance hall is not to the level of the apartment, but don't let that put you off, it is not a reflection of the apartment.
  
  What could be improved: There is a little noise from the butchers shop below, which did not cause us a problem. If you are looking for lazy sleep ins, this may wake you up???

  The meat shop people downstairs were very helpful to show us exactly where the apartment was through a short alley way.
  
  What could be improved: The taxi driver from the airport had to Google the address when he dropped us off at infront of the meat shop but he couldn't show us where exactly was the apartment. However, we got the driver's number and was able to arrange through him to confirm our taxi ride at 4:00am for driving us to airport at the end of our holiday 5 days in Rhodes.
