You know what caught me off guard about Merelia Luxury Guesthouse? It’s tucked away in Haraki, which honestly feels like Rhodes’ best-kept secret. I mean, everyone flocks to Rhodes Town or Lindos, but Haraki is this quiet fishing village that somehow escaped the tour bus crowds. The guesthouse sits right where you can actually hear the waves at night – not the muffled distant ocean sound, but proper gentle lapping that’ll put you to sleep better than any white noise machine.

The owner, Maria, has this way of making you feel like you’re staying at your Greek aunt’s place (if your aunt had impeccable taste and a knack for hospitality). She’ll casually mention that the best bakery is the one next to the post office – not the obvious touristy one by the harbor – and she’s absolutely right. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully luxurious. Clean lines, local stone accents, and these gorgeous terraces that overlook either the bay or the mountains behind town. I stayed in October, which turned out to be perfect timing because the summer crowds had thinned out but the weather was still warm enough for morning swims. The beach is literally a two-minute walk down a narrow path lined with olive trees, and here’s the thing – it’s mostly locals and maybe a handful of other guests. No umbrella salesmen, no jet skis, just clear water and this pebbly shore that’s surprisingly comfortable once you get used to it.

What really sets this place apart is how Maria anticipates what you actually need. She stocks the mini-fridge with local yogurt and honey, keeps a stash of beach towels that don’t smell like chlorine, and – this is genius – has a collection of books left behind by previous guests in about six different languages. Parking is easy, which matters more than you’d think in Greece, and the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property. The breakfast spread changes daily based on what’s fresh at the market, so you might get these incredible tomatoes one day and the most perfect figs the next. It’s served on the main terrace overlooking the water, and honestly, I found myself lingering there way longer than planned just watching the fishing boats head out. The only tiny downside? The stone steps up to some rooms might be tricky if you’re hauling heavy luggage, but Maria’s son will help if you ask. With a 9.8 rating, it’s clear I’m not the only one who thinks this place nails that sweet spot between luxury and authenticity – it feels special without trying too hard, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually relax.

  The house is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean, and perfectly organized. It was a pleasure to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and communication was excellent throughout. The location is also fantastic – very close to the sea and some beautiful beaches in the area. Highly recommended!

  The house was near the Haraki beach, it was like 10 seconds with a car. Also, 15 min to Lindos with a car. I recommend this place if you’re planning to go to beaches everyday.

  Beautiful new property, very well decorated and well located (just a few steps from the beach). The bathroom was beautiful and the property was very clean with great bedrooms with comfy beds.The owner was amazing.We will come back soon.

  Samostatný dům, klidne místo, kousek od vesnice. Skvělé vybavení. Čistý. Dokonale zatemeni. Pračka. Dostatek ulozneho prostoru.Majitelé jsou mili a vždy k dispozici, vyborna a rychlá komunikace. Jediné co bych doplnila je mikrovlnná trouba.
  Rádi se sem vrátíme a moc za všechno děkujeme 🙏.

  Die Kommunikation und Hilfsbereitschaft der Gastgeber war hervorragend. Wir waren 13 Tage in der Unterkunft und alle 3 Tage wurde das Haus gereinigt und die Handtücher ausgetauscht. Vor der Reinigung wurde telefonisch abgefragt, um welche Uhrzeit uns die Reinigung am besten passt.
  
  What could be improved: Die Haustür besitzt keine Türklinke. Wenn man auf der Terasse sitzt, muss man den Schlüssel immer bei sich haben und dieser darf nicht im Haus liegen, wenn die Tür zufällt. Dann hilft nur ein Anruf bei der Vermieterin, die aber binnen 5 Minuten vor Ort ist.
